Christmas 2023 #2

 

I'm sharing another set of Christmas tags today. I went for a vintage look this time.

Although vintage is not my style I really enjoyed making these tags. And as a bonus I was able to use up some of my Christmas stash!

Vandaag toon ik een reeks vintage kerstlabels. Alhoewel vintage niet echt mijn stijl is vond ik het toch heel leuk om deze labels te maken. En ik kon een deel van mijn grote kerstvoorraad opgebruiken, mooi meegenomen!

  

I started by adding a textured pattern to the tags. Therefore I applied Distress Grit Paste 'Snowfall' through various Tim Holtz Layering stencils. After drying I distressed the edges of the tags by sponging a layer of Distress Ink 'Vintage Photo'. 

Ik begon met het aanbrengen van een laagje structuur op de labels. Daarvoor bracht ik Distress Grit Paste 'Snowfall' aan doorheen verschillende stencils. Na het drogen de labels 'oud' gemaakt door de randen te bewerken met Distress Inkt 'Vintage Photo'.

I adhered strips of white gauze and a piece of hemp cord to the bottom of each tag and glued a label on top.

Stroken wit gaas en jute touw bevestigd op de onderkant van elk label. Daar een label overheen gekleefd.

The trees, deer and pine branch are from a Tim Holtz Idea-olgy 'Christmas Botanicals' pack. I combined these with 'Paper Dolls' images.

De bomen, het hert en de dennentak komen uit een Tim Holtz Idea-ology ' Chrismas Botanicals Pack'. Deze gecombineerd met 'Paper Dolls' afbeeldingen.

I finished the tags off with some golden stars, a button and a tag topper.

For the Christmas wish I again used a stamp by Darkroom Door.

De labels afgewerkt met gouden sterren, een knoop en lint.

Voor de wens opnieuw een stempel van Darkroom Door gebruikt.

For this set of Christmas cards I was inspired by a YouTube video by Cheiron. I started by collaging a bunch of images, tickets and labels from a Tim Holtz Idea-ology 'Christmas Ephemera Pack' to 3 tags. I filled up the gaps using scraps of patterned paper.

Voor deze set kerstkaarten liet ik me inspireren door een YouTube video van Cheiron. Ik begon met het maken van een collage op 3 labels. Daarvoor gebruikte ik afbeeldingen, tickets en kleine labels uit een Tim Holtz Idea-ology 'Christmas Ephemera Pack'. De lege plekken vulde ik op met restjes gedessineerd papier.

I added some red accents with a Distress Crayon and machine stitched around the edges of the tags.

Rode accenten aangebracht met een Distress Crayon. Op de randen van de labels gestikt met de naaimachine.

Next I adhered Tim Holtz Idea-ology 'Christmas Botanicals', wooden trees and enamel pearls.

Vervolgens een aantal elementen van de Tim Holtz Idea-ology 'Christmas Botanicals' opgekleefd samen met houten boompjes en plakparels.

To further decorate the tags I made white splatters, added strips of velvet ribbon as tag toppers and embellished each tag topper with a loop pin and a tiny bell.

De labels verder afgewerkt met witte spetters en fluwelen lint. Elk lint versierd met een metalen pin een mini belletje. 

I glued each tag onto a piece of patterned paper, added another label and a matted everything onto kraft cardstock. 

For the Christmas wish I used a Darkroom Door stamp.

Elk label kleefde ik op bijpassend gedessineerd papier. Ik bevestigde nog een labeltje op de zijkant van elke tag en matte alles op kraft kaartkarton. 

De kerstwens gestempeld met een stempel van Darkroom Door.

Hard Cover Book

Inside the Handmade Book Club there is an archive with lots of tutorials. This book was inspired by one of these tutorials. It's a hard cover book sewn on tapes.

De Handmade Book Club heeft een archief met heel veel lessen over boekbinden.

Dit boek is geïnspireerd op één van die lesjes. Het is een boek met harde kaft, genaaid op 'tapes'.

For the inside pages I used off white 120 grs writing paper.

Voor de bladzijden binnenin gebruikte ik crèmekleurig schrijfpapier van 120 gr.

The covers were decorated with homemade book cloth.

De kaften werden bekleed met zelfgemaakt boekbindlinnen.

To make the book cloth for the tapes I used a scrap of linen fabric.

The sewing was done with purple wax thread.

Om het boekbindlinnen voor de 'tapes' te maken gebruikte ik een restje linnen stof.

Het naaien deed ik met paarse gewaxte draad.

For the endpapers I used purple cardstock.

Voor de schutbladen gebruikte ik paars kaartkarton.

Love the print on that cotton fabric. 

Blij met de toffe print op deze stof.

Pamphlet Palooza

 

I recently joined the Handmade Book Club by Vintage Page Designs. The Handmade Book Club is an online community of bookbinders from all over the world.

Ik werd onlangs lid van de Handmade Book Club van Vintage Page Designs. De Handmade Book Club is een online club van boekbinders van over de hele wereld. 

Each month Ali Mannings posts a brand new bookbinding project.

For this book I was inspired by the October project: Pamphlet Palooza.

Elke maand post Ali Mannings een nieuw project. 

Voor dit boek werd ik geïnspireerd door het project van oktober: Pamphlet Palooza. 

It involved a lot of weaving on the spine. 

Er moest geweven worden op de rug van het boek.

I was able to use up some of my ribbons.

Zo kon ik een deeltje van mijn collectie lintjes wegwerken.

For the covers I used gel prints from my stash.

Voor de kaften gebruikte ik gel prints van mijn voorraad.

For the signature wrappers I've chosen colors that coordinate with the colors on the covers.

Voor het papier van de omslagen rond de katernen koos ik kleuren die matchen met de kleuren van de kaften.

I folded a signature wrapper for each of the 12 signatures. 

Voor elk van de 12 katernen een omslag gevouwen.

The book measures 10 x 15 cm.

Het boekje meet 10 x 15 cm.
