After seeing a DIY - a tree made of Christmas baubles - on Instagram by Lieks Home I had to make a tree myself.

Na het zien van een DIY - een boom gemaakt van kerstballen - op Instagram bij Lieks Home wilde ik dat ook proberen.

I bought an assortment of Christmas baubles at Xenos...

Ik kocht een assortiment kerstballen bij Xenos...

...and mixed them with baubles I bought at a flea market recently.

...en mengde ze met kerstballen die ik onlangs bij de kringloopwinkel kocht.

I first added text and snowflakes to a 60 x 80 cm canvas by applying modeling paste through Tim Holtz stencils. After drying I painted the canvas pink.

Eerst tekst en sneeuwvlokken aangebracht op een 60 x 80 cm groot canvas. Daarvoor smeerde ik modeling paste doorheen 2 stencils van Tim Holtz. Na het drogen verfde ik het canvas roze.

Pompon Sheep #3

 

Tackling unfinished projects, another intention of me for 2023.

Last year I made a set of cards and a canvas with sheep made of pompons.

While working on it I made up my mind to create another canvas with a green sheep but it took me until now to finish this canvas.

Half afgewerkte projecten afwerken, nog een voornemen van me voor 2023.

Vorig jaar maakte ik een set kaarten en een canvas met schapen gemaakt van pompons erop.

Toen nam ik me voor om ook nog een canvas te maken met een groen schaap maar pas nu vond ik de tijd om dit af te werken. 

I started by covering the canvas (20 x 20 cm) with tissue paper on which I made gel prints. Next I added text. The text was stamped on tissue paper as well.

Eerst het canvas (20 x 20 cm) vol gekleefd met tissue papier waar ik gel prints op maakte. Daarna text opgeplakt die ik ook eerst stempelde op tissue papier.

The legs of the sheep were painted straight onto the canvas. The head and ears were cut out of mixed media paper and were colored black before adhering to the canvas with 3D tape.

De poten van het schaap rechtstreeks op het canvas geschilderd. De kop en oren uit mixed media papier geknipt, zwart geverfd en met 3D tape op het canvas geplakt.

For the body I used 3 different sizes of pompons and I filled up the gaps in between the pompons with green thread.

Voor het lijfje drie verschillende maten pompons opgeplakt en de ruimte tussen de pompons opgevuld met groen garen.

Pompon Sheep #2

 

  A few weeks ago I made a set of cards with pompon sheep after watching an Instagram reel by Amanda Evaston. While making those cards I was thinking a pompon sheep would look nice on a canvas too. So this week I dug up a few larger pompons and gave it a try.

Een aantal weken geleden maakte ik een set kaarten met schapen gemaakt van pompons, na het bekijken van een Instagram reel van Amanda Evanston. 

Terwijl ik daaraan bezig was bedacht ik dat zo'n schaap ook leuk zou staan op een canvas. Deze week zocht ik een aantal grotere pompons bij mekaar en ging aan de slag.

I started by painting the canvas using lime, turquoise and white paint. I added numbers, stripes and squares by sponging white, pink and dark blue paint through various stencils. To add more interest I overstamped the canvas randomly with a script stamp.

Eerst het canvas geverfd met lime, turquoise en witte verf. Nummers, strepen en vierkantjes aangebracht door met respectievelijk witte, roze en donkerblauwe verf te sponzen doorheen verschillende stencils. Ook nog hier en daar gestempeld met een script stempel.

De poten van het schaap rechtstreeks op het canvas geschilderd. De kop en oren uit mixed media papier geknipt, zwart geverfd en met 3D tape op het canvas geplakt.

All 4 sides of the canvas were painted as well.

Ook de 4 zijden van het canvas werden geverfd.

I used 3 different sizes of pompons and filled up the gaps in between the pompons with scraps of pink thread.

Drie verschillende maten pompons opgeplakt en de ruimte tussen de pompons opgevuld met restjes roze garen.

I added shadow with a black Stabilo pencil.

Schaduw aangebracht met een zwart Stabilo potlood.

Canvas

Last week I made this 20 x 20 cm canvas.

Vorige week weer eens een canvasje gemaakt, formaat 20 x 20 cm. 

I started by collaging strips of tissue paper to the background. To create this tissue paper I used various Darkroom Door background stamps and paint.

Gestart met het opkleven van stroken tissue papier. Om het tissue papier te bestempelen gewerkt met verf en een collectie achtergrondstempels van Darkroom Door.

Next I added strips of black and white tissue paper. After drying I applied a thin layer of gesso to the background. I added color using Distress Ink Mermaid Lagoon and Twisted Citron. Did some stamping with white paint as well. 

Hier en daar ook stukjes zwart/wit tissue papier toegevoegd. Daarna een dun laagje gesso over het geheel gesmeerd en hier en daar extra kleur toegevoegd met Distress Inkt Mermaid Lagoon en Twisted Citron. Ook nog gestempeld met witte verf.

I created 'trees' using circles. I stamped dots on the circles using my fingertips.

Soort van bomen gemaakt met papieren cirkels. Op de cirkels stippen 'gestempeld' met met mijn vingertoppen.

The sheep were stamped on tissue paper and adhered to the canvas using gel medium.

De schaapjes gestempeld op tissue papier en daarna opgekleefd met gel medium. 

I gave each sheep a 'coat' using fun flock.

Ze kregen een wollen jasje van fun flock.

I finished the canvas off with a strip of tape and some white and fuchsia accents.

Het canvas afgewerkt met een stukje tape en witte en fuchsia accenten.

Canvas Scribbly Birds

Een 30 x 30 cm box canvas gemaakt.

I made a 12x 12" box canvas.

Eerst een collage gemaakt van bedrukt tissue papier, boektekst, kleefletters, restjes scrapbookpapier, gestempelde bloemen.... 
Er zijn een aantal foto's van 'the making of' te zien op Instagram. 

I started by collaging patterned tissue paper, vintage book text, sticky letters, scrapbook papers, stamped flowers...to the canvas. 
You can find pictures of 'the making of' on my Instagram account.

Daarna alles geverfd en met stencils en witte verf stippen en cijfers aangebracht. Ook gestempeld met verf.

Next I applied layers of paint and added white dots and numbers using stencils and white paint. I did some stamping with paint as well.

De Scribbly Birds kregen ook een laagje acrylverf.

 I colored the birds with acrylic paint.

Papierresten op mekaar geschikt, vast gestikt en gebruikt als 'tak' voor de vogels.

I layered leftover papers on top of each other, added machine stitching and used it as a 'branch' for the birds.

On this photo you see a few of the layers.

Drie bloemen gestempeld op restjes geverfd papier, uitgeknipt en het hart versierd met een propje gekleurd tissue papier.

I stamped three flowers on painted paper scraps, cut out and decorated the centre with crumpled tissue paper.

Tenslotte ook nog wat zwarte accenten aangebracht met stempels en een pennetje.

I finished the canvas off with black accents using stamps and a fineliner.
