I'm currently joining Fodder Challenge 2024, an online event hosted by Willa Wanders aka Wendy Solganik.

During October a bunch of artists are teaching us how to make the most amazing collage fodder.

For this project I mixed a few of the lessons.

Voor dit project een aantal lesjes met mekaar gecombineerd.

I folded these origami envelopes with Karen Elaine Parsons. 

The hearts are leftovers from the first lesson.

Ik leerde deze origami enveloppen vouwen met Karen Elaine Parsons.

De harten zijn restjes van de eerste les.

For the envelopes I used vellum and marker paper which I colored with alcohol ink. 

Voor de enveloppen gebruikte ik vellum en marker papier dat ik kleurde met alcohol inkt.

On the tags I adhered collaged flowers.

Op elk labels plakte ik een bloem.

I was inspired by the lesson by Susan Rossiter on flower designs from the sixties.

Geïnspireerd door de workshop van Susan Rossiter over bloemmotieven uit de jaren zestig.

I added my own touch by glueing the flowers on a stamped background.

Ik gaf er mijn eigen draai aan en plakte de bloemen op een gestempelde achtergrond.

Did the checkered backgrounds with a Darkroom Door background stamp and Distress Oxide Ink.

Voor de hokjes gebruikte ik een Darkroom Door achtergrond stempel en Distress Oxide Inkt.

Hier nog meer inspiratie uit de eerste les van Cheiron Brandon.

She showed us how to make beautiful striped backgrounds with the alchohol inks.

Ze toonde ons hoe je mooie gestreepte achtergronden maakt met alcohol inkt.

For the shape of the tree and the heart I used stencils/masks by Darkroom Door.

Om de boom en het hart te tekenen gebruikte ik stencils/masks van Darkroom Door.

I was able to make 2 cards with only one background.

Met 1 achtergrond kon ik telkens 2 kaarten maken.

The text stamp I used is by PaperArtsy.

During the first lesson Cheiron Brandon demonstrated how to make beautiful alcohol ink backgrounds.

In de eerste les toonde Cheiron Brandon hoe je mooie alcohol inkt achtergronden maakt.

I had to dust off my alcohol ink bottles, it's been a long time since I used them.

Ik moest mijn alchohol inkt flesjes van onder het stof halen, heel lang geleden dat ik ze nog gebruikte. 

Cheiron showed us how to make quick and easy cards using those backgrounds.

Cheiron toonde ons ook hoe je eenvoudige kaarten maakt met de achtergronden.

And of course I had to make a few cards using my stamps.

Natuurlijk nog wat verder geborduurd op het thema met mijn stempels erbij.

And I searched on my own blog as well for more inspiration.

Ook op mijn eigen blog nog wat inspiratie gezocht en gevonden.

Here I stamped on the background using a home carved stamp. I put 2 layers of vellum on top of that stamped background. Each heart on the front was decorated with a bead and scrappers floss. A remake from a card I made in 2012.

Hier op de achtergrond gestempeld met een zelf gekerfde stempel. Daar 2 lagen vellum over gelegd. Elk hart op de voorgrond versierd met een kraal en scrappers floss. Een herwerkte versie van een kaart uit 2012.

Sketched Alphabet

 

On today's cards I used the beautiful Sketched Alphabet stamp set by Darkroom Door.

Voor de kaartjes van vandaag met de mooie Sketched Alphabet stempelset van Darkroom Door aan de slag gegaan.

I still had some gel prints left made with alcohol ink. For the prints I was inspired by this tutorial on Instagram by Birgit Koopsen. 

Ik had nog gel prints liggen die maakte naar aanleiding van een filmpje op Instagram van Birgit Koopsen over gel printing met alcohol inkt. 

After cutting out the letters I arranged them to the background and added black stamping.

De letters uitgeknipt, opgeplakt en gecombineerd met stempelwerk.

I still had a few backgrounds in my stash made with my gel printing plate and alchohol inks.

Ik had nog een paar achtergrondjes liggen die ik maakte met de gel printing plate en alcohol inkt.

As on these cards I overstamped the prints with a text stamp.

Net als bij deze kaarten overstempelde ik de achtergronden met een tekststempel.

On each card I added a favorite tree from the Darkroom Door Stitched Christmas stamp set as well.

Ik stempelde op elke kaart ook nog een favoriete boompje uit de Darkroom Door Stitched Christmas stempelset.

I'm sharing two Christmas cards today on which I used a new text stamp by Darkroom Door.

Twee kerstkaartjes vandaag waarbij ik nog een keer de nieuwe tekststempel van Dakroom Door gebruikte.

To create the background I used my gel printing plate and my good old alcohol inks. 

I was inspired by this video on Instagram by Birgit Koopsen.

I applied alcohol inks to the plate and created circles using various sizes of drinking glasses and lids.

De achtergrond deed ik met mijn gel printing plate en alcohol inkten. Ik werd geïnspireerd door dit filmpje op Instagram van Birgit Koopsen.

Ik bracht alcohol inkt aan op de gel printing plate en maakte cirkels met drinkglazen  en dopjes in verschillende maten. 

Same technique, different colors. 

In my opinion the festive circles are the perfect background for Christmas cards.

Zelfde techniek, andere kleuren. 

De feestelijke cirkels passen wel voor kerstkaarten vind ik.

Alcohol Ink

Birgit Koopsen is hosting a new challenge on Instagram. It's called 31productschallenge. Birgit wants us to use a different product each day during the month October. I won't have time enough to take part each day although I have more than 31 products/mediums in my craft room I suppose :)

On this card I used alcohol ink.

Birgit Koopsen organiseert in oktober een 31productschallenge op Instagram. De uitdaging bestaat erin om elke dag een ander product te gebruiken. Ik ga geen tijd hebben om elke dag mee te doen alhoewel ik waarschijnlijk wel 31 producten/mediums kan vinden in mijn hobbyhok :)

Voor de kleurige strook op deze kaart gebruikte ik alcohol inkt.

I colored Yupo paper with pink and orange alcohol ink and used the Tim Holtz blending pen to add marks.

Yupo papier gekleurd met roze en oranje alcohol inkt. Met de Tim Holtz blending pen maakte ik een stippenpatroon.

I finished the card off by adding a bead and a strip of fabric. 

Afgewerkt met een platte kraal en een strookje stof.

Magic

Voor de 2 kaartjes van vandaag een techniek met alcoholinkt gebruikt.

For today's cards I used an alcohol ink technique.

Verschillende kleuren Adirondack alcoholinkt aangebracht op acetaat. Daarop gestempeld met Archival inkt 'Jet Black'. Direct de nog natte stempelinkt weggepoetst. De inkt neemt de alcohol mee, de stempelafdruk wordt 'doorzichtig' = wit op een witte kaart. 

Ik gebruikte vellen acetaat uit de kantoorboekhandel maar je kan ook verpakkingsmateriaal van bvb stempels gebruikten. 

Colored a piece of acetate with several colors of Adirondack alcohol ink. Stamped on it with Archival ink 'Jet Black'. Immediately blotted the wet stamped ink with a soft cloth. This removes the stamped image and alcohol ink like magic.

I used a heavy transparency but you can use packaging material as well. 

De truc herhaald met de viooltjes stempel. 

Repeated the magic with the 'Pansies' Photo Stamp.

Het doorzichtige acetaat heb ik ter hoogte van het lint met een reep dubbelzijdig plakband vastgemaakt op de kaart.

Used a piece of double sided tape to stick the acetate to the card.

Hided the tape underneath the ribbon.

Thistle

Twee kaartjes gemaakt met de distel stempel van Paperbagstudios.

Made two cards with the thistle stamp by Paperbagstudios.

Een mooie stempel vraagt niet veel extra's. Dat is mooi meegenomen :)

A beautiful stamp doesn't need that much extras. Nice bonus isn't it :)

De ondergrond maakte ik met alcoholinkt.

Na het stempelen de cirkel bijgekleurd met Distress Inkt. Ook nog wat accenten aangebracht met wit potlood.

Made the background with alcohol ink.

Colored the circle with Distress Ink after stamping. Added a few details with a white pencil too.

Koordjes in bijpassende kleuren.

Cords in matching colors.

Het effect van alcoholinkt op glanzend papier vind ik vaak nogal hard van kleur. Hier gewerkt met mat papier en heel weinig inkt.

I know alcohol ink is designed to use on glossy paper but I wasn't happy with the outcome on glossy paper. Here I worked with matte paper and very little ink.
