Sympathy Cards #16

 

This month I'm joining the BirgitKoopsenGelPrintingChallenge on Instagram.

I already made a bunch of prints, card size. I've chosen 2 of those prints to make today's Sympathy Cards.

This print was done with Alcohol Ink for the topic 'Bottle Caps'.

Deze maand doe ik mee met de BirgitKoopsenGelPrintingChallenge op Instagram.

Ik maakte al een heleboel prints op  kaartformaat. Twee van deze prints vandaag gebruikt om twee sterkte kaartjes te maken. 

Deze print maakte ik met alcohol inkt voor het thema 'Bottle Caps'. 

The print I used on this card was done with acrylic paint for the topic 'Comb'.

I overstamped each print with a quote stamp by Darkroom Door, I drew a frame with a black fineliner and added a few enamel dots.

De print die ik voor dit kaartje gebruikte maakte ik met acrylverf voor het thema 'Comb'.

Over de prints een quote van Darkroom Door gestempeld, een randje getekend met een zwarte fineliner en enkele plakparels opgekleefd.

Mother's Day #2

 

Today we're celebrating Mother's Day here in Belgium.

I'm wishing all moms, plus moms and women who take care of someone in some way a very lovely day!

 

Vandaag is het moederdag hier in België.

Ik wil graag alle mama's, plus mama's en dames die op één of andere manier zorgen voor iemand en het verschil maken een heel fijne dag wensen!

Mother's Day #1

 

To create today's cards I started by stamping a border to the right side of the cards using the Abstract Stamp - Faded Circles by Darkroom Door. I added circles by sponging with various colors of Distress Ink through a home made stencil.  I stamped the flowers on a scrap of watercolor paper and colored the flowers with Ecoline Brush Pens. After cutting out I adhered the flowers to the card.

I finished each card off by stamping a wish and attaching a piece of pink cord.

Voor de kaartjes van vandaag eerst de 'Abstract Stamp - Faded Circles' van Darkroom Door afgedrukt op de rechterkant van de kaarten. Met een zelfgemaakte stencil en verschillende kleuren Distress Inkt cirkels gesponsd. De bloemen gestempeld op aquarelpapier en ingekleurd met Ecoline Brush Markers. De bloemen daarna uitgeknipt en op de kaarten geplakt.

Tenslotte nog een wens gestempeld en een roze koordje aan elke kaart geknoopt.

A while ago I joined a Facebook Live workshop by Dina Wakley.

In that course she demonstrated how to make a 'Tie Book'.

Een tijdje geleden volgde ik een Facebook Live van Dina Wakley.

Ze demonstreerde hoe je een 'Tie Book' maakt.

Dina started from scratch. She showed a technique on how to color the pages and taught the binding method. I didn't find the time yet to prepare the pages the way she did but I was eager to try the binding. So I dug into my pile of gel prints and made a 'Tie Book' from gel prints.

Dina begon vanaf nul. Ze toonde een techniek om pagina's kleur te geven en legde uit hoe je het boekje moest binden. Ik vond nog geen tijd om pagina's te verven op haar manier maar ik wilde wel graag de binding uitproberen. Dus heb ik mijn voorraad gel prints aangesproken en maakte ik een 'Tie Book' van gel prints.

I've chosen to work with green and blue prints.

The pages are card size.

Gekozen voor prints in groen/blauwe tinten.

De pagina's zijn kaartformaat.

I decorated the front cover with stamps by Dina Wakley.

I 'm planning to fill the book with flower prints.

De voorkant versierd met stempels van Dina Wakley.

Het is de bedoeling om het boekje te vullen met bloemenprints.

The binding is located at the very top and bottom of the spine, so the entire spine is free from stitches. Due to the gel prints I ended up with a very colorful spine.

Doordat de pagina's aan beide uiteinden van de rug aan mekaar geknoopt worden blijft de rug vrij van bindwerk. De gel prints zorgen voor een kleurige rug.

I've chosen to round the corners of each page.

Ervoor gekozen om de hoekjes van de pagina's af te ronden.

Because I used rather thin linen bookbinding thread I could make tight knots.

Door met tamelijk dunne linnen draad te werken kon ik strakke knopen maken.

When using ribbon or thicker thread the book becomes less stable, more wobbly.

Hoe dikker het lint of het touwtje waar je mee werkt, hoe 'wiebeliger' het boekje wordt.

Stamping with Stencils

 

I recently rediscovered the 'stamping with stencils technique' and I ended up with a bunch of colorful backgrounds for cards.

Ik herontdekte onlangs de 'stempelen met stencils techniek' en zo eindigde ik met een heleboel kleurige achtergronden voor kaarten.

I applied Distress Ink straight from the ink pad to various stencils. After spraying water on top I made prints on watercolor paper. 

It's a very easy technique with an unpredictable outcome but that's exactly why I love this technique :)

De techniek is simpel. Rechtstreeks met het inktkussen Distress Inkt aanbrengen op stencils, daar water over vernevelen en afdrukken maken op aquarelpapier.

De uitkomst is telkens een verrassing maar dat is net het leuke eraan :)

I used the backgrounds to make a set of kids cards.

Met de achtergronden maakte ik een reeks kaarten voor kinderen.

The branch, the numbers and wishes were stamped straight onto the backgrounds using Archival Ink 'Jet Black'. I stamped the birds and sheep on scraps of paper and adhered them to the cards using 3D tape.

De tak, de nummers en de wensen werden rechtstreeks op de achtergrond gestempeld met Archival Inkt 'Jet Black'. Ik stempelde de vogels en het schaap op restjes wit papier en plakte die na het uitknippen op de kaarten met 3D tape.

I embellished each card with a few pompons.

Elke kaart versierd met een aantal pompons.

The sheep was decorated with fluffy yarn.

Het schaap kreeg een laagje pluizige wol.
