Birthday Greetings #1

 

Darkroom Door recently released new stamps and I was asked to make a few samples with the new stamps. On today's card I used a stamp from the new 'Birthday Greetings' set. 

Er kwamen recent nieuwe stempels uit bij Darkroom Door en ik mocht ermee aan de slag. Dit kaartje maakte ik met een stempel uit de nieuwe 'Birthday Greetings' set.

I started by stamping the background. I made prints with 2 of my favourite background stamps. I used Distress Oxide Ink, a perfect ink to make crisp prints.

Eerst de achtergrond gestempeld. Ik maakte afdrukken met 2 van mijn favoriete achtergrondstempels. Hiervoor gebruikte ik Distress Oxide inkt, daar kun je heel fijn mee stempelen. 

I applied pink ink straight from the ink pad onto the strip of paper in the middle.

I stamped 'Happy' with Versamark ink, sprinkled pink embossing powder on top and heat set. I did the cutting out by hand and stamped the word 'birthday' with Archival Ink 'Jet Black'.

Het roze strookje kleurde ik door rechtstreeks met het inktkussen over het papier te gaan.

Het woord 'Happy' stempelde ik met Versamark inkt. Roze embossingpoeder over de tekst gestrooid en verhit. Het woord met de hand uitgeknipt en 'birthday' apart gestempeld met zwarte Archival Inkt 'Jet Black'.

During the month of August Rachel Greig by Darkroom Door was hosting a challenge on Instagram.

Each day there was a prompt to spark our creativity. 

I made this card for the 'Animal' topic.

Deze kaart gemaakt voor het thema 'Animal'.

I used a brayer to apply colored stripes on my large gel printing plate. After drying I pulled a print on an A4 sheet using a thin layer of white paint. I was able to cut 4 backgrounds out of that gel print. I used one  on today's card.

I overstamped the gel print with dots and text using white paint. At the bottom of the card I adhered a torn strip of dark grey handmade paper.

Met een brayer gekleurde strepen verf aangebracht op mijn grote gel printing plate. Alle verf laten drogen en een print gemaakt op een A4 blad door middel van een dun laagje witte verf. Ik kon 4 achtergronden knippen uit de gel print. Ik gebruikte er ééntje voor het kaartje van vandaag.

Met witte verf stippen en tekst gestempeld op de gel print. Onderaan een gescheurd strookje grijs handgeschept papier opgeplakt.

Medium Stencil - Smile #2

 

I made a spread in my small Pocket Journal using the new 'Medium Stencil - Smile' by Darkroom Door.

Een spread gemaakt in mijn kleine Pocket Journal met de nieuwe 'Medium Stencil - Smile' van Darkroom Door.

On the left page I applied pink paint randomly. I added dots using a paint brush and red paint. I outlined the dots with an orange Distress Crayon.

Links restjes roze verf uitgesmeerd. Met een penseel en rode verf stippen aangebracht. De stippen met een oranje Distress Crayon omcirkeld. 

After a gel printing session with the 'Smile' stencil and black paint there was some leftover paint on my gel printing plate. I used this spread to mop up that paint. Love the subtle effect of the print. 

Na een gel printing sessie met de 'Smile' stencil en zwarte verf bleef een restje over op mijn gel printing plate. Deze spread gebruikt om de restjes op te nemen. Blij met het subtiele resultaat! 

The page on the right was folded out of patterned paper. I added a thin layer of pink paint. The leaves were stamped on white paper and attached to the page after cutting out. Underneath the leaves I adhered some leftover washi tape. 

The sponging of the black text was done with Archival Ink Jet Black.

De rechter pagina werd gevouwen uit gedessineerd papier waar ik een dun laagje roze verf overheen smeerde. De blaadjes afgedrukt op wit papier, uitgeknipt en opgeplakt. Onder de blaadjes zijn restjes washi tape gekleefd. 

Alle zwarte tekst werd gesponsd met Archival Inkt Jet Black.

A torn strip of painted fabric was attached to this page with tiny staples.

Een gescheurd strookje geverfde stof op de pagina vastgemaakt met mini nietjes.

Today I'm sharing a couple of tags I made using the new 'Medium Stencil - Smile' by Darkroom Door.

Vandaag toon ik twee labels die ik maakte met de nieuwe 'Medium Stencil - Smile' van Darkroom Door.

To add the text on the tags I used my gel printing plate.

Voor de tekst gebruikte ik mijn gel printing plate.

Stencils with text are great to do gel prints with. The only thing you have to keep in mind is that you have to put the stencil on the plate wrong side up. This way the text will be readable on the finished project.

For these prints I only used black paint but I worked on tags and tissue paper that already had some color on it.

Stencils met tekst vind ik tof om te gebruiken op gel prints. Het enige waar je rekening mee moet houden is dat je de stencil omgekeerd op de plate legt, zodat de tekst op het eindresultaat leesbaar is.

Voor deze prints alleen zwarte verf gebruikt maar ik werkte met een label en tissue papier waar al wat kleur op zat.

Before adding the black gel print I colored both tags with fuchsia, pink and orange paint.

Voor het printen beide labels geverfd met fuchsia, roze en oranje verf.

I applied a thin layer of black paint to the gel printing plate with a brayer. I put the stencil on top (wrong side up) and used a sheet of tissue paper to remove most of the paint from the open parts of the stencil. This step works best when using thin paper. After removing the stencil I pulled a print on both tags.

Een dun laagje zwarte verf aangebracht op mijn gel printing plate met een brayer. Daar de stencil omgekeerd ingelegd. Een vel tissue papier gebruikt om de meeste verf in de open delen van de stencil weg te poetsen. De stencil weggenomen en de tekst geprint op beide gekleurde labels.

I stamped the flowers on scraps of white paint with Archival Ink Jet Black and with pink and orange paint as well.

De bloemen gestempeld op restjes papier met Archival Inkt Jet Black en ook met oranje en roze verf.

On the background I made a collage using leftover handmade paper.

Met restjes handgeschept papier, over van het boekbinden, een collage gemaakt.
