Peeled Paint Effect with Clear Tape

This month I'm participating in birgitkoopsengelprintingchallenge on Instagram. There's a new theme every day. On September 6 the topic was 'Tape'. I attached strips of tape on my gel printing plate and pulled several prints on a bunch of tags. Today I made 5 tags using the most beautiful prints.

Deze maand doe ik mee met de birgitkoopsengelprintingchallenge op Instagram. Elke dag een ander thema. Op 6 september was het thema 'Tape'. Repen tape bevestigd op mijn gel printing plate en allerlei prints geprobeerd op labels. Met de mooiste prints ging ik aan de slag vandaag.

For the gel printing technique I applied I was inspired by THIS VIDEO by Birgit Koopsen.

Voor de gel printing techniek die ik toepaste liet ik me inspireren door DIT filmpje van Birgit Koopsen.

I stamped on each tag using Dina Wakley stamps.

Op elk label gestempeld met een Dina Wakley stempel.

I attached strips of tape at the bottom of each tag.

Onderaan tape opgeplakt.

I wrapped thin cord around the tags as well.

Boven de tape dun touw geknoopt.

For the tag toppers I used ribbon I colored with paint and Distress Inks.

Aan elk label zelf gekleurd lint geknoopt.

I did some mark making on each tag using matching paint markers.

Marks gemaakt met een bijpassende verf marker.

The print on this tag was done after removing the tape from my gel printing plate. The final prints that take all the leftover paint from the plate often turn out to be the best ones.

Deze print gemaakt nadat de tape al van mijn gel printing plate verwijderd was. 

Die 'laatste' prints die alle restjes verf opnemen zijn vaak de mooiste.

Making things with all those prints is the biggest challenge :)

Iets maken met al die gel prints is nog de grootste uitdaging :)

Art Journal

For the October edition of Craft Stamper I made an art journal. To create this art journal I applied a gel printing technique and an appliqué technique using fusible web. I used fabric, paper, embroidery thread, paint and lots more!

Voor de oktober editie van Craft Stamper maakte ik een Art Journal. Ik maakte gel prints op stof en gebruikte een applicatie techniek voor het bevestigen van bloemen op de kaft. Ik werkte met stof, papier, borduurgaren, verf en nog veel meer!

Wrapped Journal #6

I again made a Wrapped Journal. I've die cut the cover out of 300grs watercolor paper using the Sizzix 'Wrapped Journal' die by Eileen Hull. A quick and easy way to cut a cover without measuring. 

Opnieuw een Wrapped Journal gemaakt. De kaft gesneden uit 300grs aquarelpapier met behulp van de Sizzix 'Wrapped Journal' stans van Eileen Hull. Een snelle manier om een kaft te snijden zonder meten. 

I decorated the cover with a gel print. I applied paint on my large gel printing plate and made marks into the paint before printing. I made the marks with a lace stamp and a few background stamps.

Op de kaft kwam een gel print. Eerst verf uitgerold op mijn grote gel printing plate. Daar de kantstempel en ook nog een aantal achtergrondstempels in afgedrukt en een print gemaakt.

I did a ghost print on the reverse side of the cover. 

Een ghost print gemaakt op de binnenkant van de kaft.

I decorated the front cover with pompon ribbon. I machine stitched the ribbon to the cover. I added 2 tissue paper flowers as well. 

Aan de voorkant van het boekje stikte ik pompon lint. Verder ook nog 2 bloemen van tissue papier opgeplakt.

To create the flowers I colored white tissue paper with Dylusions Ink Spray. 

Voor de bloemen wit tissue papier gekleurd met Dylusions Ink Spray. 

Love how the gel print turned out.

Gel printen is altijd verrassend, wel blij met het resultaat.

I've woven orange and fuchsia elastic cord through the holes to attach the signatures.

Ik schoof dunne oranje en fuchsia elastiek door de gaten om de katernen aan te bevestigen.

For the inserts I've cut 20 pages out of mixed media paper, size 19,5 x 11 cm. I folded each page in half and nested 5 pages into each other to make 4 signatures.

Voor de katernen 20 pagina's gesneden uit mixed media papier. De pagina's in 2 gevouwen en per 5 in mekaar geschoven om zo 4 katernen te maken.

I repeated the lace theme on the inside by folding a paper doily around each signature.

Het kant thema van op de kaft nog eens herhaald binnenin het boekje. Ik vouwde een taartkantje rond elke katern.

Case Bound Book #3

A long time ago I took part in a series of bookbinding courses. Recently I stumbled upon a box in which I found a few text blocks I sewed at that time. I again used one of those text blocks to create a book.

Héél lang geleden volgde ik een aantal cursussen boekbinden. Ik vond onlangs een doos terug met daarin een aantal reeds genaaide boekblokken/tekstblokken die nog dateren uit die tijd. Opnieuw een boekje gemaakt met één van de boekblokken.

I decorated the cover with Japanese handmade paper.

Om de kaft te bekleden gebruikte ik deze keer Japans handgeschept papier.

It's called "Fleurs de cerisier".

De naam van het papier is "Fleurs de cerisier"

I folded the inside pages out of pink text paper. Did the sewing of the signatures on cords.

De katernen werden gevouwen uit roze printer papier en genaaid op touwtjes.

For the end papers I used patterned paper.

Voor de schutbladen gedessineerd papier gebruikt.

And of course I again added a bookmark :)

Ook een bladwijzer kon niet ontbreken :)

I applied shades of orange, fuchsia and pink paint to a panel of grey cardstock. At the left handside I put the Crackle stencil on top of the wet paint and wiped away some of the paint through the stencil using baby wipes. At the right I sponged pink paint through the same stencil.

Op grijs kaartkarton een aantal tinten oranje, fuchsia en lichtroze verf uitgesmeerd. Links de Crackle stencil op de nog natte verf gelegd en verf weggepoetst met een babydoekje. Rechts gesponst met lichtroze doorheen dezelfde stencil.

I did the ferns using a stencil and fuchsia paint.

Voor de varens gebruikte ik een stencil en fuchsia verf.

I used a small glass to stamp the circle around the text.

De rand van een klein glaasje beïnkt om de cirkel rond de tekst te stempelen.

I made a set of cards on which I adhered a whole bunch of small buttons.

Een serie kaartjes gemaakt waarop ik een heleboel kleine knoopjes kwijt kon.

I made yellow, pink and mint background prints using my favorite Plaid Background Stamp.

Mijn favoriete Plaid achtergronstempel afgedrukt in mintgroen, geel en roze.

I used the same inkpads to stamp the birds. I cut the birds out but stamped their legs straight onto the cards.

De vogels gestempeld in dezelfde kleuren en uitgeknipt. De poten stempelde ik rechtstreeks op de kaarten.

I won't run out of buttons soon.

Geen gebrek aan knoopjes hier.

 

I stamped a different wish on each card.

Elke kaart kreeg een ander wens.

I have lots of ready made backgrounds in my stash as well as a bunch of stamped prints. To create a scrap card it's only a matter of putting the right prints on the right background :) 

Ik heb allerlei kant en klare achtergronden in mijn voorraad en ook een heleboel gestempelde 'overschotjes'. Het komt er dus op aan om de juiste achtergrond te vinden bij het stempelwerk of omgekeerd :)

 I'm happy to have another men's card ready in my stash.

 Blij dat ik weer een mannenkaart op voorraad heb.

In order to reduce my pile of scraps I decided to make a bunch of scrap cards.

 Today I'm sharing the first one.

Omdat de restjesbak op mijn werktafel te klein aan het worden is maakte ik een aantal kaarten met restjes. Vandaag toon ik de eerste van een hele reeks. 

With a flat brush I applied leftover paint on a card panel. The birds and the branch are leftovers from another project.

Met een platte borstel restjes verf uitgesmeerd uit op kaart achtergrond. De vogeltjes en de tak zijn restjes van een ander project.

I used the new Abstract 03 border stamp by Darkroom Door in my Pocket Journal today.

De nieuwe Abstract 03 stempel van Darkroom Door deze keer afgedrukt in mijn Pocket Journal.

I started by painting the background using orange, fuchsia and purple paint. I put the Arty Circles stencil on top of the wet paint and removed some of the paint through the stencil using baby wipes. I sponged light pink paint through the Circles stencil and purple paint through the Polka Dots stencil.

Eerst de achtergrond gekleurd met oranje, fuchsia en paarse verf. In de nog natte verf de 'Arty Circles' stencil gelegd en verf terug weggenomen met een babydoekje. Lichtroze verf gesponst doorheen de 'Circles' stencil en paarse verf doorheen de 'Polka Dots' stencil.

To create the large blue dots I used the Arty Circles stencil and a Distress Crayon. I stamped randomly with the Abstract 02 stamp using orange paint.

 Met een Distress Crayon en de 'Arty Cirlces' stencil maakte ik de blauwe bollen. Gestempeld met een gedeelte van de Abstract 02 stempel en oranje verf.

I added stamping with the Abstract 03 stamp and stamps from the 'Grunge Marks' set. I made more marks using a white pen.

Ook nog gestempeld met de Abstract 03 stempel en met stempels uit de Grunge Marks set. Verder ook nog details aangebracht met een witte pen.

I heat embossed the text and the circles (spirals) using white embossing powder.

De tekst evenals de cirkels (spiralen) kregen een laagje wit embossing poeder.
