Checkerboard Stencil #2

Ziehier de tweede kaart die ik maakte met de Checkerboard stencil.

 De hokjes die ik bij de vorige kaart kleurde bleven hier wit. 

This is the second card on which I used the Checkerboard stencil.

The squares I colored on the previous card remained white here.

Daarvoor 'gestempeld' met de stencil. Twee kleuren Distress Paints aangebracht op de stencil, daar water over verneveld en op een kaart afgedrukt. Voor deze techniek gebruik ik altijd aquarelpapier.

I used the 'stencil stamping' technique. I loaded the stencil with 2 colors of Distress Paints, sprayed water on top and 'stamped' on watercolor paper.

Op deze achtergrond één van de Darkroom Door Fine Flowers afgedrukt, samen met een wens. Nog een paar witte stipjes gezet om af te werken.

I overstamped the background with one of the Darkroom Door Fine Flowers and a wish. I added white dots with a Sharpie.

Checkerboard Stencil #1

Ik wil graag uittesten wat er allemaal mogelijk is met één simpele stencil, vandaar dit nieuwe rubriekje.

 I would like to try out what's possible with one single stencil.

Ik koos deze 'My Favorite Things' stencil.

For this series I've chosen this 'My Favorit Things' stencil.

Voor de kaart van vandaag legde ik de stencil op wit papier en kleurde de hokjes met Distress Markers. Simpeler kan niet :)

To create today's card I've put the stencil on top of white paper and colored the squares through the stencil with Distress Markers. Easy peasy :)

Alles omlijnd met slordige lijntjes. De vogel kleurde ik met Distress Markers en een waterpenseel.

I added accents with a black fineliner. I colored the bird with Distress Markers and a water brush.

De kaart op donkerblauw papier gemat en de wens uit hetzelfde papier gestanst.

I glued the card on dark blue paper and die cut the wish out of the same paper.

PaperArtsy New EEG Stamps #1

De hele week worden nieuwe stempels voorgesteld op PaperArtsy Blog. Deze avond zijn de nieuwe EEG stempels aan de beurt, ontworpen door Emma Godfrey. Emma vroeg mij om een aantal projecten te maken met  haar nieuwe stempels. Vandaag toon ik een canvas waarbij ik de EEG15 set gebruikte. Ik maakte ook een hele reeks kaarten, die komen hier de volgende dagen aan de beurt. Voor wie niet kan wachten, ze zijn al te zien in het filmpje onderaan deze post :)

This evening there is a blogpost on the PaperArtsy Blog about the new EEG stamps designed by Emma Godfrey. On the occasion of this launch I've made a few projects with the new sets. Tonight I have a canvas for you on which I used the EEG15 set. I've made some cards too, I'll show these later this week. For those of you who are anxious to see them, they are in the video at the bottom of this post :)

Ik werkte op een box canvas van 20 x 20 cm. Eerst bedrukt tissue papier en voeggaas van de bouwmarkt geplakt. Daar PaperArtsy Fresco Finish Chalk Acrylics Carribean Sea, Zesty Zinge, Limelight, Candy Floss, Orchid en Tango overheen geborsteld. 

I worked on a 8 x 8" box canvas. I started by adhering patterned tissue paper and joint tape to the canvas. Then colored the background with PaperArtsy Fresco Finish Chalk Acrylics Caribbean Sea, Zesty Zinge, Limelight, Candy Floss, Orchid and Tango.

Over de kleuren strepen geverfd met Snowflake en Inky Pool. Met stencils en dezelfde verf letters en cijfers gesponst. 

I made stripes with Snowflake and Inky Pool. I used stencils and the same paint to create letters, numbers and script.

Op de achtergrond ook gestempeld met witte verf en stempels uit de EEG15 set.

De kleinste cirkelstempel ook gebruikt om bloemen mee te maken. Omdat stempelen op canvas nogal lastig is heb ik de bloemen net als de quote eerst op tissue papier gestempeld met Archival Inkt Jet Black. De stempelafdrukken uitgescheurd en met gel medium vastgekleefd op het canvas. 

I did some background stamping with white paint using stamps from the EEG15 set. I used the smallest circle stamp to create flowers. In order to achieve crisp stamping I stamped the flowers and quote on tissue paper first, tore the stamp prints out and glued them to the canvas with gel medium. 

De bloemen ingekleurd met verf, highlights aangebracht met Snowflake. Stelen getekend met een zwarte pen.

I colored the flowers with paint and added highlights with Snowflake. I drew stems using a black fineliner.

Veel laagjes...

Inspiration Wednesday 2015 #16

 Voor "Inspiration Wednesday 2015" van Donna Downey heb ik nog een heel aantal lessen in te halen. Eindelijk weer eens tijd gevonden om een spread te maken in mijn Art Journal.

For the "Inspiration Wednesday 2015" online course by Donna Downey I still have some catching up to do. I finally had a spare moment to make a new spread in my Art Journal.

Deze keer gestart met het opplakken van stof.

 I started by glue-ing down fabric to the pages.

Ik koos voor een dun Liberty stofje uit mijn voorraad en plakte het vast met gel medium.

I picked some Liberty fabric out of my stash and attached it to the pages with gel medium.

Op de stof hier en daar gesso aangebracht.

I randomly applied gesso on the fabric.

Over de gesso bloemen gemaakt met lichtgewicht structuurpasta en een stencil.

De bloemen kleurde ik met Faber-Castell Gelatos.

Using light modeling paste and a stencil I created flowers on top of the gesso. Colored the flowers with Faber-Castell Gelatos.

De tekst maakte ik ook met behulp van een stencil.

The text is done the same way.

De achtergrond gedeeltelijk groen en heel lichtblauw geverfd.

I painted parts of the background using green and light blue paint.

Na het aanbrengen van schaduwen ook nog spatjes gemaakt met witte verdunde verf.

After adding shadow I made splashes with white paint.

Bij deze drie kaartjes vooral met stencils gewerkt.

To create these cards I worked mainly with stencils.

Stukjes boektekst geplakt en patronen gemaakt met verschillende stencils en verf.

I glued down torn strips of vintage book text and created various patterns with stencils and paint.

Extra accenten aangebracht met een witte en zwarte stift.

I added accents using a white and black fineliner.

In mijn stempelcollectie kwam ik onlangs enkele mooie oude Hero Arts bloemenstempels tegen.

When rummaging through my stamp collection lately I stumbled upon a few Hero Arts flower stamps.

Ze blijven mooi en eigentijds vind ik.

Het donkerblauwe papier blijft hier en daar zichtbaar.

Love how the dark blue cardstock peeks through in some places.

De stelen maakte ik met een rozenstempel van Art Journey.

For the stems I used an Art Journey rose stamp.

Darkroom Door Brushed Daisies #3

Bewust een groot deel wit gehouden op deze pagina's.

Eerst Distress Stains 'Mermaid Lagoon' en 'Twisted Citron' gesprayed op het bovenste deel van de pagina's. Daar water over verneveld en het boek recht gezet om de inkt te laten 'drippen'.

A spread with lots of white space today.

I sprayed Distress Stains 'Mermaid Lagoon' and 'Twisted Citron' to the top of the pages, sprayed water on top and let the ink drip.

Daarna met lichtblauwe en lime verf en stencils (Tim Holtz Layering Stencils 'Splotches' & 'Tiles') cirkels en vierkantjes gemaakt.

Next I applied light blue and lime acrylic paint through stencils (Tim Holtz Layering Stencils 'Splotches' & 'Tiles').

Letters gemaakt met Distress Inkt 'Mermaid Lagoon' en 'Twisted Citron' en de Donna Downey Signature Stencil 'Alphabet Rerun'. Delen van de Darkroom Door 'Mesh' stempel afgedrukt met Distress Inkt 'Mermaid Lagoon'. Een gedeelte van de 'Flourish' stempel afgedrukt met witte verf.

I created letters with Distress Ink 'Mermaid Lagoon', 'Twisted Citron' and the Donna Downey Signature Stencil 'Alphabet Rerun'. I overstamped the spread randomly with parts of the Darkroom Door 'Mesh' Background Stamp and Distress Ink 'Mermaid Lagoon' and parts of the 'Flourish' Background Stamp and white paint.

Ook nog grote en kleine stippen gestempeld met verf.

I stamped large and small dots with paint.

Als laatste de 'Bruhsed Daisies' gestempeld met Archival Inkt 'Jet Black'. Stelen getekend met een zwarte pen. Accenten aangebracht met een witte pen.

On top of that colored background I stamped the 'Brushed Daisies' with Archival Ink 'Jet Black'. I drew stems with a black fineliner and added accents with a white pen.

Kleine rondjes en hartjes geponst uit restjes geverfd papier en deze opgeplakt samen met stickers.

I punched tiny dots and hearts out of painted paper scraps and attached them to the spread in combination with some letter stickers.

Twee kaartjes gemaakt geïnspireerd op dit lesje van Roben-Marie Smith.

I made two cards inspired by this free online lesson by Roben-Marie Smith.

Eerst een collage gemaakt van allerlei papiertjes: boektekst, bedrukt tissue papier...Daar een dunne laag gesso over gesmeerd.

I started by collaging book text, patterned tissue paper....Applied a layer of gesso on top.

Vervolgens cirkels, vierkanten, bloemen....gemaakt met stencils en verf.

I created circles, squares, flowers....using stencils and paint.

De spiraalstempel is er eentje die ik ooit zelf kerfde.

I used my homemade spiral stamp on the background.

En toen begon het leukste gedeelte: details aanbrengen met zwarte en witte pen. 

The fun part: drawing black and white details.

De bloem bijgekleurd met roze, oranje en magenta verf.

I added extra color to the sponged flower with orange, pink and magenta paint.

Cirkels uit boektekst geponst en opgeplakt.

I punched circles out of vintage book text and attached them to the card. 

Kaartje twee: een variatie op hetzelfde thema.

The second card: same theme but slightly different.

De bloemen maakte ik met stencils van Rae Missigman.

I created the flowers with stencils by Ray Missigman.
