Fodder Challenge 2024 #2

I'm currently joining Fodder Challenge 2024, an online event hosted by Willa Wanders aka Wendy Solganik.

During October a bunch of artists are teaching us how to make the most amazing collage fodder.

De hele maand oktober leren artiesten ons allerlei technieken voor het maken van collage materiaal.

Lesson 2 was all about Mixed Media Polaroids.

De tweede les ging over 'Mixed Media Polaroids'.

Rebecca Chapman taught us how to make the most fabulous collage papers and cut those up to make polaroids.

Rebecca Chapman leerde ons hoe je de mooiste collages maakt om die dan achteraf te verknippen tot polaroids.

I slightly changed the size and made cards instead.

Ik veranderde de afmetingen lichtjes zodat ik mijn collages kon gebruiken op kaarten.

For this project I was able to use a lot of scraps.

Voor dit project kon ik heel veel restjes gebruiken.

And scraps I have :)

En laat ik er daar nu net heel veel van hebben :)

All the birthday wishes were done using Darkroom Door stamps.

Voor de wensen op alle kaarten gebruikte ik Darkroom Door stempels.

I was able to make 12 cards out of 2 A4 collage sheets.

Van 2 A4 collage vellen kon ik 12 kaarten maken.

In the fist lesson Tracey Wozniak showed us how to make mixed media mushrooms/toadstools.

As most of the participants, I couldn't stop making mushrooms :)

In de eerste les toonde Tracey Wozniak ons hoe je mixed media paddenstoelen maakt. Net zoals veel van de deelnemers kon ik niet stoppen met het maken van paddenstoelen :)

I used a few of the mushrooms on cards already.

Een aantal van de paddenstoelen al gebruikt op kaarten.

I used backgrounds from my stash, mostly gel prints.

Ik werkte met achtergronden uit mijn voorraad, vooral gel prints.

I added strips of handmade paper...

Reepjes handgeschept papier opgeplakt...

...and marks done with stamps.

...en stempelwerk toegevoegd.

For the wishes I used various Darkroom Door stamps.

Voor de wensen gebruikte ik Darkroom Door stempels.

This lesson was a good opportunity to finally dig up my PaperArtsy Infusions and Brusho's.

Dit lesje was een goede gelegenheid om eindelijk nog eens mijn PaperArtsy Infusions en Brusho's boven te halen.

Birds

For the background of these 4 cards I've worked with gel prints from my stash.

Voor de achtergrond van deze 4 kaarten koos ik gel prints uit mijn voorraad.

To create the birds I used various scraps of fabric and felt.

Om de vogels te maken allerlei restjes stof en vilt gebruikt.

 I followed the instructions by the very talented Buffy Greer aka b2xb2.

Ik volgde de instructies van de zeer getalenteerde Buffy Greer van b2xb2.

Inside the Handmade Book Club Buffy has a tutorial on how to make birds like this.

The birds were machine stitched onto a layer of felt. 

Voor de Handmade Book Club maakte Buffy instructiefilmpjes waarin ze toont hoe je deze vogels maakt. Ik stikte ze op een onderlaag van vilt.

I finished the cards off with stamps by Darkroom Door.

De kaarten afgewerkt met stempels van Darkroom Door.

Watercolor through a stencil

 

It took me a while but I finally made a card again. To create the flower I applied watercolor paint through a stencil.

Na lange tijd nog eens een kaart gemaakt. Om de bloem te maken bracht ik aquarelverf aan doorheen een stencil.

The birthday wish was done with a stamp by Darkroom Door. I made a tab from a scrap of matching ribbon and sandwiched the tab in between the white panel and a kraft card.

 Voor de verjaardagswens gebruikte ik een stempel van Darkroom Door. Een tabje gemaakt van een restje bijpassend lint en alles op een dubbele kraft kaart geplakt.

For this rather busy card I was inspired by a reel on Instagram by Amanda Evanston. 

I love her no nonsense style!

I painted a lot of hearts with various colors of watercolor paint, made a lot of drips and outlined the hearts with a white POSCA pen. I added my own twist by adhering a few hearts on top with 3D tape.

Voor dit nogal drukke kaartje werd ik geïnspireerd door een reel op Instagram van Amanda Evanston. Ik hou van haar nonchalante stijl.

Ik schilderde heel veel hartjes met aquarelverf, liet de verf uitlopen en omlijnde elk hartje met een witte POSCA pen. Ik gaf er daarna mijn eigen draai aan door hartjes uit te knippen en verhoogd op te plakken.

For today's cards I dug up my watercolor paint.

I should use my watercolor paint more often, so fun to work with.

Voor de kaartjes van vandaag haalde ik mijn aquarelverf nog eens boven.

Ik nam me voor om er vaker mee te werken, heel leuk om te doen.

After watching an Instagram reel by Anna Koliadych I wanted to give this "stamping hearts with watercolor paint and a toilet roll" a try.

Na het bekijken van een Instagram reel van Anna Koliadych wilde ik "het stempelen van harten met een toiletrolletje en aquarelverf" ook eens proberen.

Easier said than done.

It looked easy in the reel but folding a proper heart shape with the toilet roll was quite a task :)

Gemakkelijker gezegd dan gedaan.

 In het filmpje ziet het er heel simpel uit maar een mooi hartje 'vouwen' met dat rolletje was al een hele opgave :)

 This tree was inspired on a reel by Anna as well.

Ook voor deze boom werd ik geïnspireerd door Anna.

To create this set of cards I used the 'Small Stencil - Heart Set' by Darkroom Door.

Voor deze set kaarten werkte ik met de 'Small Stencil - Heart Set' van Darkroom Door.

I used the mask to draw hearts on mixed media paper. I added double sided tape to the upper side. To position and adhere the hearts on the kraft cards I used the matching stencil.

Ik gebruikte het masker om harten te tekenen op mixed media papier. De harten aan de bovenkant bekleed met dubbelzijdige tape. Om ze op de kaart te positioneren en te kleven gebruikte ik de bijpassende stencil.

Here I adhered a bunch of colorful mini pompons to the heart. 

Hier plakte ik een heleboel kleurige mini pompons op het hart.

On this card I worked with sculptured flowers. As you can see I have a whole collection of these flowers :)

Hier werkte ik met bloemen. Zoals je kan zien heb ik een hele collectie van deze bloemetjes :)

I filled the small gaps in between the flowers with small pieces of crumpled tissue paper.

De openingen tussen de bloemetjes opgevuld met kleine stukjes verfrommeld tissue papier.

Christmas 2023 #13

 

These are my final Christmas cards of the year.

Hier de laatste kerstkaarten van dit jaar. 

To add texture to the background I used two different embossing folders by Tim Holtz.

Voor de textuur op de achtergrond werkte ik met twee verschillende embossing mallen van Tim Holtz.

I cut the flowers, the leaves and branches with a Sizzix Thinlits die set by Tim Holtz.

Om de bloemen, de blaadjes en takjes uit te snijden gebruikte ik een Sizzix Thinlits set van Tim Holtz.

Assembling all the bits and pieces together and attaching everything to the cards was quite a job.

Alle deeltjes bij mekaar puzzelen en opkleven was wel een priegelwerkje.

With some leftover homemade bookcloth from this project, I made the tree on this kraft card. To cut the tree I used a die by Tim Holtz. I distressed the edges of the tree with Distress Ink 'Saltwater Taffy'. I embellished the tree with a die cut star and a bow tied from hemp cord.

Met een restje zelfgemaakt boekbindlinnen - afkomstig van dit project - maakte ik de boom op dit kraft kaartje. Om de boom te snijden gebruikte ik een stans van Tim Holtz. De randen bewerkt met Distress Inkt 'Saltwater Taffy' en de boom verder versierd met een gouden ster en een strik geknoopt van jute touw.

To create this set of cards I used up a lot of scraps of patterned paper.

Voor deze set kaartjes veel restjes gedessineerd papier opgebruikt.

On each card I made red stitches with my sewing machine.

Met de naaimachine rond elk kaartje een rand gestikt.

With pain in the heart I used up the last bit of this beautiful paper.

Van dit mooie papier gebruikte ik jammer genoeg het laatste restje.

 I distressed the edges of the wooden trees with Distress Ink in matching colors.

 De randen van de houten boompjes kregen een laagje bijpassende Distress Inkt.

Some of the trees were decorated with Enamel Accents, others with mini pompons.

 

Ik versierde er een aantal met 'Enamel Accents' en een aantal met mini pompons.
