There is a Christmas Countdown going on in the JoFY Jamborree!! Facebook group. Every week Jo Firth-Young makes a Christmas card during a Facebook Live. For this card I was inspired by the demo of week 5.

Fodder Challenge 2024 #1

I'm currently joining Fodder Challenge 2024, an online event hosted by Willa Wanders aka Wendy Solganik.

During October a bunch of artists are teaching us how to make the most amazing collage fodder.

Ik neem deel aan Fodder Challenge 2024, een online cursus georganiseerd door Willa Wanders aka Wendy Solganik.

De hele maand oktober leren artiesten ons allerlei technieken voor het maken van collage materiaal.

In the fist lesson Tracey Wozniak showed us how to make mixed media mushrooms/toadstools.

As most of the participants, I couldn't stop making mushrooms :)

In de eerste les toonde Tracey Wozniak ons hoe je mixed media paddenstoelen maakt. Net zoals veel van de deelnemers kon ik niet stoppen met het maken van paddenstoelen :)

I used a few of the mushrooms on cards already.

Een aantal van de paddenstoelen al gebruikt op kaarten.

I used backgrounds from my stash, mostly gel prints.

Ik werkte met achtergronden uit mijn voorraad, vooral gel prints.

I added strips of handmade paper...

Reepjes handgeschept papier opgeplakt...

...and marks done with stamps.

...en stempelwerk toegevoegd.

For the wishes I used various Darkroom Door stamps.

Voor de wensen gebruikte ik Darkroom Door stempels.

This lesson was a good opportunity to finally dig up my PaperArtsy Infusions and Brusho's.

Dit lesje was een goede gelegenheid om eindelijk nog eens mijn PaperArtsy Infusions en Brusho's boven te halen.

Fodder Challenge #2

 

During July I joined the Fodder Challenge by Willa Wanders. I didn't have time to finish all of the challenges, just did a few that spoke to me. For the cover of this book I was inspired by the lesson of Day 2: 'Collaged Notebook Covers' by Barbara Smucker.

Tijdens de maand juli nam ik deel aan de Fodder Challenge van Willa Wanders. Ik had geen tijd voor alle uitdagingen maar ik koos er een paar uit die me aanspraken. Voor de kaften van dit boek liet ik me inspireren door de videos van dag 2 van Barbara Smucker: 'Collaged Notebook Covers'.

Instead of decorating the covers of a ready made book I've chosen to make covers and bind a book myself.

In plaats van de kaft van een bestaand boek te decoreren maakte ik kaften en bond er zelf een boekje mee.

I used mixed media paper to fold 12 signatures and chose a coptic stitch for the binding. 

Met mixed media papier vouwde ik 12 katernen. Om het boek te binden koos een koptische binding.

For this project I used up some gelli prints from my stash.

Voor dit project kon ik een aantal gelli prints uit mijn voorraad gebruiken.

Fodder Challenge 2023

Dotted Circles #2

 

Recently I played with the new Abstract Stamp - Dotted Circles on my gel printing plate. I worked with a limited color palette of white and red paint and made patterns into the paint using the Abstract Stamp - Dotted Circles.

Onlangs geëxperimenteerd met de nieuwe Abstract Stamp - Dotted Circles op de gel printing plate.

Ik werkte alleen met rode en witte verf en maakte een patroon in de verf met de Abstract Stamp - Dotted Circles. 

For this card I cut a background out of one of the gel prints. At the bottom of the card I adhered a strip of recycled packaging paper. The cupcake was stamped with light gray ink and colored with watercolor paint. I adhered the cupcake to the card using 3D tape and added a red pompon. I wrapped black and white bakers twine around the card and stamped a wish in the upper right corner. 

Voor deze kaart een achtergrond gesneden uit één van de gel prints. Onderaan een reep papier uit een beschuitrol opgekleefd. De cupcake werd gestempeld met lichtgrijze inkt en ingekleurd met aquarelverf. 3D tape gebruikt om de cupcake aan de kaart te bevestigen. De cupcake afgewerkt met een rode pompon.

Tenslotte nog een stukje zwart/wit koord rond de kaart gewikkeld en een tekst gestempeld.

Pompon Sheep #3

 

Tackling unfinished projects, another intention of me for 2023.

Last year I made a set of cards and a canvas with sheep made of pompons.

While working on it I made up my mind to create another canvas with a green sheep but it took me until now to finish this canvas.

Half afgewerkte projecten afwerken, nog een voornemen van me voor 2023.

Vorig jaar maakte ik een set kaarten en een canvas met schapen gemaakt van pompons erop.

Toen nam ik me voor om ook nog een canvas te maken met een groen schaap maar pas nu vond ik de tijd om dit af te werken. 

I started by covering the canvas (20 x 20 cm) with tissue paper on which I made gel prints. Next I added text. The text was stamped on tissue paper as well.

Eerst het canvas (20 x 20 cm) vol gekleefd met tissue papier waar ik gel prints op maakte. Daarna text opgeplakt die ik ook eerst stempelde op tissue papier.

The legs of the sheep were painted straight onto the canvas. The head and ears were cut out of mixed media paper and were colored black before adhering to the canvas with 3D tape.

De poten van het schaap rechtstreeks op het canvas geschilderd. De kop en oren uit mixed media papier geknipt, zwart geverfd en met 3D tape op het canvas geplakt.

For the body I used 3 different sizes of pompons and I filled up the gaps in between the pompons with green thread.

Voor het lijfje drie verschillende maten pompons opgeplakt en de ruimte tussen de pompons opgevuld met groen garen.

The one I made last year.

Deze maakte ik vorig jaar.

For today's Sympathy Card I used a gel print on which I stamped a flower and a sentiment with black ink. I drew a stem with a black fineliner and finished the card off by adhering a button and 2 pieces of leftover wax thread.

Voor deze sterkte kaart een bloem en tekst gestempeld op een gel print met zwarte inkt. Met een fineliner een steel getekend en de kaart afgewerkt met een knoop en 2 restjes wax koord.

I recently joined the 'Tis the Season' workshop on Facebook by Jo Firth-Young.

For this card I was inspired by this workshop. 

Recent nam ik deel aan de 'Tis the Season' workshop op Facebook van Jo Firth-Young. Dit kaartje is geïnspireerd op deze workshop. 

It was all about the new stamp set JoFY 119, the one with the large wobbly tree.

All the stamps used on this card are from this set, except for the Christmas wish.

De stempels die ik gebruikte komen allemaal uit de nieuwe JoFY 119 set, behalve de wens. De workshop stond dan ook in het teken van deze nieuwe stempelset.

Mini Marks #2

 

I also made 2 cards using the cute 'Mini Marks' stamps by Darkroom Door.

Ook nog 2 kaartjes gemaakt met de leuke 'Mini Marks' stempels van Darkroom Door in de hoofdrol.

I started by making a few gel prints to use on the background. I applied various colors of acrylic paint onto a gel printing plate and pulled some prints. For this card I used a ghost print.

Voor de achtergronden van beide kaarten eerst gel prints gemaakt. Verschillende kleuren acrylverf in strepen aangebracht op een gel printing plate en prints gemaakt. Voor deze kaart gebruikte ik een ghost print.

I overstamped the gel prints randomly with stamps from the 'Mini Marks' set using various colors of Archival Ink. The beautiful quote is from the new 'Sunflowers' stamp set.

Met verschillende kleuren Archival Inkt en stempels uit de 'Mini Marks' set willekeurig gestempeld over de achtergrond. De mooie quote komt uit de nieuwe 'Sunflowers' stempel set. 

This card was done the same way. I finished it off by stamping leaves and a birthday wish.

Voor deze kaart op dezelfde manier te werk gegaan. Afgewerkt met een takje en een verjaardagswens.

Christmas 2022 #15

 

I already made a card with these snowmen, this time I made a tag with 'Twig & Stump'. 

 I colored the scarfs, the hat, the bonnet and the tree with Distress Ink. The noses and arms were die cut out of patterned paper. For the background I used a gel print on which I adhered a few snowflakes. 

I attached strips of washi tape to the bottom of the tag and glued a die cut fence behind the snowmen. 

I finished the tag off by adding a tab, red ribbon, a pompon, droplets and label tape. 

Ik maakte eerder al een kaart met deze sneeuwmannen, deze keer maakte ik een label met 'Twig & Stump'. 

 De sjaals, de hoed, de muts en de kerstboom gekleurd met Distress Inkt. Voor de neuzen en armen gebruikte ik gedessineerd papier.

Op de achtergrond is een gel print te zien waar ik een paar sneeuwsterren op kleefde. 

Onderaan het label eerst een aantal stroken washi tape geplakt. Ook nog een hekje uitgestanst en dat achter de sneeuwmannen gekleefd. Alles afgewerkt met een tabje, een pompon, rood lint, droplets en label tape.

On today's Christmas cards I applied a technique I learned from Birgit Koopsen.

I adhered a Darkroom Door mask on top of a ready made gel print and pulled a print using dark blue paint.

De techniek die ik op deze kerstkaarten toepaste zag ik bij Birgit Koopsen. 

Ik legde een Darkroom Door mask op een kant en klare gel print en maakte een afdruk met donkerblauwe verf. 

To decorate the trees I punched small circles out of scraps of gel prints. I outlined each circle with a white pen and applied a layer of Stickles on each circle.

Uit restjes van gel prints rondjes geponst en deze op de bomen gekleefd. De rondjes omlijnd met een witte pen en versierd met een laagje Stickles.

I outlined the trees with a white POSCA pen and used the same pen to make splatters on the background. I applied white paint to the edges of each card.

De bomen omlijnd met een witte POSCA pen. Met dezelfde pen ook spetters gemaakt en de randjes van de kaarten bewerkt met witte verf.

For the background of this card I used a gel print. I added stars to the print using a stencil and modeling paste. At the bottom of the card I adhered a strip of red and white washi tape. The vintage elements are from an Ephemera Pack by Tim Holtz.

Voor de achtergrond van dit kaartje gebruikte ik een gel print. Ik zette er sterren op met behulp van een stencil en structuurpasta. Onderaan rood/witte washi tape opgeplakt. De vintage elementen komen uit een Ephemera Pack van Tim Holtz.

To make the snowmen, the Christmas tree and the twigs I used die cuts by Tim Holtz. I added color to the scarfs, the hat, the bonnet and the tree using Distress Ink. I finished the card off by randomly adding Distress Glitter.

Beide sneeuwmannen, de kerstboom en de takjes maakte ik met snijmallen van Tim Holtz. De boom, de hoed, de muts en sjaals bijgekleurd met Distress Inkt. Hier en daar ook een laagje Distress Glitter aangebracht.
