Sketched Alphabet

 

On today's cards I used the beautiful Sketched Alphabet stamp set by Darkroom Door.

Voor de kaartjes van vandaag met de mooie Sketched Alphabet stempelset van Darkroom Door aan de slag gegaan.

I still had some gel prints left made with alcohol ink. For the prints I was inspired by this tutorial on Instagram by Birgit Koopsen. 

Ik had nog gel prints liggen die maakte naar aanleiding van een filmpje op Instagram van Birgit Koopsen over gel printing met alcohol inkt. 

After cutting out the letters I arranged them to the background and added black stamping.

De letters uitgeknipt, opgeplakt en gecombineerd met stempelwerk.

Ik had nog een paar achtergrondjes liggen die ik maakte met de gel printing plate en alcohol inkt.

As on these cards I overstamped the prints with a text stamp.

Net als bij deze kaarten overstempelde ik de achtergronden met een tekststempel.

On each card I added a favorite tree from the Darkroom Door Stitched Christmas stamp set as well.

Ik stempelde op elke kaart ook nog een favoriete boompje uit de Darkroom Door Stitched Christmas stempelset.

I'm sharing two Christmas cards today on which I used a new text stamp by Darkroom Door.

Twee kerstkaartjes vandaag waarbij ik nog een keer de nieuwe tekststempel van Dakroom Door gebruikte.

To create the background I used my gel printing plate and my good old alcohol inks. 

I was inspired by this video on Instagram by Birgit Koopsen.

I applied alcohol inks to the plate and created circles using various sizes of drinking glasses and lids.

De achtergrond deed ik met mijn gel printing plate en alcohol inkten. Ik werd geïnspireerd door dit filmpje op Instagram van Birgit Koopsen.

Ik bracht alcohol inkt aan op de gel printing plate en maakte cirkels met drinkglazen  en dopjes in verschillende maten. 

Same technique, different colors. 

In my opinion the festive circles are the perfect background for Christmas cards.

Zelfde techniek, andere kleuren. 

De feestelijke cirkels passen wel voor kerstkaarten vind ik.

Alcohol Ink

Birgit Koopsen is hosting a new challenge on Instagram. It's called 31productschallenge. Birgit wants us to use a different product each day during the month October. I won't have time enough to take part each day although I have more than 31 products/mediums in my craft room I suppose :)

On this card I used alcohol ink.

Birgit Koopsen organiseert in oktober een 31productschallenge op Instagram. De uitdaging bestaat erin om elke dag een ander product te gebruiken. Ik ga geen tijd hebben om elke dag mee te doen alhoewel ik waarschijnlijk wel 31 producten/mediums kan vinden in mijn hobbyhok :)

Voor de kleurige strook op deze kaart gebruikte ik alcohol inkt.

I colored Yupo paper with pink and orange alcohol ink and used the Tim Holtz blending pen to add marks.

Yupo papier gekleurd met roze en oranje alcohol inkt. Met de Tim Holtz blending pen maakte ik een stippenpatroon.

I finished the card off by adding a bead and a strip of fabric. 

Afgewerkt met een platte kraal en een strookje stof.

Voor de 2 kaartjes van vandaag een techniek met alcoholinkt gebruikt.

For today's cards I used an alcohol ink technique.

Verschillende kleuren Adirondack alcoholinkt aangebracht op acetaat. Daarop gestempeld met Archival inkt 'Jet Black'. Direct de nog natte stempelinkt weggepoetst. De inkt neemt de alcohol mee, de stempelafdruk wordt 'doorzichtig' = wit op een witte kaart. 

Ik gebruikte vellen acetaat uit de kantoorboekhandel maar je kan ook verpakkingsmateriaal van bvb stempels gebruikten. 

Colored a piece of acetate with several colors of Adirondack alcohol ink. Stamped on it with Archival ink 'Jet Black'. Immediately blotted the wet stamped ink with a soft cloth. This removes the stamped image and alcohol ink like magic.

I used a heavy transparency but you can use packaging material as well. 

De truc herhaald met de viooltjes stempel. 

Repeated the magic with the 'Pansies' Photo Stamp.

Het doorzichtige acetaat heb ik ter hoogte van het lint met een reep dubbelzijdig plakband vastgemaakt op de kaart.

Used a piece of double sided tape to stick the acetate to the card.

Hided the tape underneath the ribbon.

Twee kaartjes gemaakt met de distel stempel van Paperbagstudios.

Made two cards with the thistle stamp by Paperbagstudios.

Een mooie stempel vraagt niet veel extra's. Dat is mooi meegenomen :)

A beautiful stamp doesn't need that much extras. Nice bonus isn't it :)

De ondergrond maakte ik met alcoholinkt.

Na het stempelen de cirkel bijgekleurd met Distress Inkt. Ook nog wat accenten aangebracht met wit potlood.

Made the background with alcohol ink.

Colored the circle with Distress Ink after stamping. Added a few details with a white pencil too.

Koordjes in bijpassende kleuren.

Cords in matching colors.

Het effect van alcoholinkt op glanzend papier vind ik vaak nogal hard van kleur. Hier gewerkt met mat papier en heel weinig inkt.

I know alcohol ink is designed to use on glossy paper but I wasn't happy with the outcome on glossy paper. Here I worked with matte paper and very little ink.

De labels bestaan elk uit 2 laagjes: een laag acetaat en een laag wit papier. Het acetaat gekleurd met Adirondack  alcoholinkt en er daarna de tekst op gestempeld met Archival  #Jet Black.

The tags consist of 2 layers: acetate and white paper. 

I applied several layers of Adirondack Alcohol Ink on the acetate. Stamped the text on the inked side of the acetate with Archival #Jet Black.

Direct na het stempelen heb ik de zwarte inkt met een doek weggepoetst. De stempelinkt neemt ook de alcoholinkt mee. De letters worden doorzichtig.

I immediately blotted the wet stamped ink with a soft cloth. This way I removed the Alcohol Ink as well as the stamped image. The text becomes transparent.

Kransje gestempeld, uitgeknipt en versierd met parels en een laagje Glossy Accents.

I stamped a wreath and decorated it with beads and a layer of Glossy Accents.

Ik heb geen 'spiegelbeeld tekststempel' zoals Tim toonde. Ik heb de beïnkte kant van de tag aan de voorzijde gehouden. Probleem omzeild :)

I don't own reflections stamps. I put the inked side of the acetate on top, problem solved :)

Mijn nieuwe Tim Holtz stans uitgeprobeerd vandaag en er deze canvas mee gemaakt. Het is mijn inzending voor de eerste uitdaging bij ARTSpecially Friends. Nog net op de valreep gemaakt, de uitdaging verloopt in minder dan een uur :) De stempelset van het ARTSpecially event 2011 gebruikt voor deze challenge.  

Tried my new Tim Holtz die today and used it on this canvas. It's my entry for the first challenge at the ARTSpecially Friends blog. I entered it just in time, link expiration is within an hour :) I used the stamp sheet of the ARTSpecially event 2011 for this challenge. 

 Ik las een inspirerend artikel in Somerset Studio over achtergronden opbouwen van de hand van Jill Geraghty-Groves. Geprobeerd om deze techniek hier toe te passsen. Voor de achtergrond zijn achtereenvolgens gebruikt: stempels, bloemen, knopen, gel medium, acrylverf, crackle paint en alcohol inkt. Het betreft heel wat laagjes die allemaal moeten drogen tussenin. Niet zo handig wanneer de tijd loopt :) 

I read an inspiring article in Somerset Studio on building backgrounds by Jill Geraghty-Groves. Followed this technique for my canvas. I used stamps, flowers, buttons, gel medium, acrylic paint, crackle paint and alcohol ink for the background. It involved a lot of layers, a bit of a problem if time is running :)

Sticky-back canvas gecombineerd met een pagina uit een oud boek voor de paspop.

Hydrangea

Voor dit kaartje heb ik me laten inspireren door de kaart op de voorpagina van de nieuwe Craft Stamper. Hortensia ingekleurd met Distress Inkt. Achtergrond, bloem en lintje gekleurd met Alcoholinkt (zie deze post). De achtergrond daarna bewerkt met een Tim Holtz embossing mal.

For this card I was inspired by the card on the cover of the latest issue of 'Craft Stamper'. Colored the Hydrangea with Distress Ink. Painted the background, flower and ribbon with Alcohol Ink (see this post). After coloring, I embossed the background with a Tim Holtz embossing folder.  

Papier van Eline's huis waar ik een hartje met 'echte' (mini) kruissteekjes op borduurde.

On "Eline's huis" paper I embroidered a heart with very tiny cross-stitches.

Een geborduurde letter voor de jarige.

Postcard

 

Niet zo makkelijk om na de kerstkaarten de weg naar de 'gewone' stempels terug te vinden. Door een 'Craft Stamper' bladeren hielp me opweg :)

Not so easy for me to find my way back to the 'regular' stamps, after making all those Holiday cards lately. Found some inspiration in a 'Craft Stamper' issue.

De vogels op een achtergrond van alcoholinkt geplakt. Deze voorraad maakte ik een tijdje geleden al.

I stuck the birds onto an alcohol ink background. Made these backgrounds a while ago yet.

De poststempel is op een stukje van een kledinglabel gestempeld.

I stamped the postmark on a piece of a clothing tag.

Deze lederen labels hebben een mooie gladde binnenkant. Het lukte verrassend goed om erop te stempelen.

Those leather clothing tags have a smooth surface on the inside. It was easy to stamp on it.
