Stamping with Stencils

 

I recently rediscovered the 'stamping with stencils technique' and I ended up with a bunch of colorful backgrounds for cards.

Ik herontdekte onlangs de 'stempelen met stencils techniek' en zo eindigde ik met een heleboel kleurige achtergronden voor kaarten.

I applied Distress Ink straight from the ink pad to various stencils. After spraying water on top I made prints on watercolor paper. 

It's a very easy technique with an unpredictable outcome but that's exactly why I love this technique :)

De techniek is simpel. Rechtstreeks met het inktkussen Distress Inkt aanbrengen op stencils, daar water over vernevelen en afdrukken maken op aquarelpapier.

De uitkomst is telkens een verrassing maar dat is net het leuke eraan :)

I used the backgrounds to make a set of kids cards.

Met de achtergronden maakte ik een reeks kaarten voor kinderen.

The branch, the numbers and wishes were stamped straight onto the backgrounds using Archival Ink 'Jet Black'. I stamped the birds and sheep on scraps of paper and adhered them to the cards using 3D tape.

De tak, de nummers en de wensen werden rechtstreeks op de achtergrond gestempeld met Archival Inkt 'Jet Black'. Ik stempelde de vogels en het schaap op restjes wit papier en plakte die na het uitknippen op de kaarten met 3D tape.

I embellished each card with a few pompons.

Elke kaart versierd met een aantal pompons.

The sheep was decorated with fluffy yarn.

Het schaap kreeg een laagje pluizige wol.

On today's Christmas cards I used patterned paper.

Rumbling through my stash to find suitable papers is fun to do :)

Twee kerstkaartjes gemaakt met gedessineerd papier in de hoofdrol.

Mooie papiertjes uitzoeken is een heel tof werkje :)

To cut the trees I used an ECD die.

I sponged the edges of the card and the trees with Distress Ink.

De bomen uitgesneden met behulp van een ECD stans.

De randen van de kaart en van elke boom gesponsd met Distress Inkt.

During the month of March Birgit Koopsen is organizing a gel printing challenge on Instagram. I'm planning to take part now and then. A good opportunity to use my gel printing plates more often! 

Gedurende de maand maart loopt een gel printing challenge op Instagram georganiseerd door Birgit Koopsen. Ik ben van plan om een paar keer deel te nemen. Een goede gelegenheid om mijn gel printing plates eens boven te halen. 

Today's prompt is "circles". I used a small circles stencil and made a simple print using my A4 gel printing plate. I cut 2 backgrounds out of that print. 

Vandaag is het thema "cirkels". Ik gebruikte een cirkel stencil en maakte een eenvoudige print met mijn A4 gel printing plate. Ik sneed er achtergronden uit voor 2 kaartjes. 

I decorated the sheep with fluffy yarn.

De schaapjes omwikkeld met pluizige wol. 

To give the cards a wintery feel I heat embossed the stamped prints with white embossing powder.

Ik maakte er winterse kaartjes van door het stempelwerk te embossen met wit embossingpoeder.

Canvas

Last week I made this 20 x 20 cm canvas.

Vorige week weer eens een canvasje gemaakt, formaat 20 x 20 cm. 

I started by collaging strips of tissue paper to the background. To create this tissue paper I used various Darkroom Door background stamps and paint.

Gestart met het opkleven van stroken tissue papier. Om het tissue papier te bestempelen gewerkt met verf en een collectie achtergrondstempels van Darkroom Door.

Next I added strips of black and white tissue paper. After drying I applied a thin layer of gesso to the background. I added color using Distress Ink Mermaid Lagoon and Twisted Citron. Did some stamping with white paint as well. 

Hier en daar ook stukjes zwart/wit tissue papier toegevoegd. Daarna een dun laagje gesso over het geheel gesmeerd en hier en daar extra kleur toegevoegd met Distress Inkt Mermaid Lagoon en Twisted Citron. Ook nog gestempeld met witte verf.

I created 'trees' using circles. I stamped dots on the circles using my fingertips.

Soort van bomen gemaakt met papieren cirkels. Op de cirkels stippen 'gestempeld' met met mijn vingertoppen.

The sheep were stamped on tissue paper and adhered to the canvas using gel medium.

De schaapjes gestempeld op tissue papier en daarna opgekleefd met gel medium. 

I gave each sheep a 'coat' using fun flock.

Ze kregen een wollen jasje van fun flock.

I finished the canvas off with a strip of tape and some white and fuchsia accents.

Het canvas afgewerkt met een stukje tape en witte en fuchsia accenten.

For the pink dots I used Enamel Accents 'Pink Gumball'.

Berry Merry Christmas

Voor de kaartjes van vandaag twee takkenstempels van Penny Black gebruikt.

De 'Berry Merry Christmas' stempel beïnkt met Distress Inkt (Festive Berries en Picked Raspberry op de bessen) en met een Distress Marker (Vintage Photo op de takken). Voor het afdrukken water verneveld op de stempel.

For today's cards I used 2 Penny Black stamps.

I loaded the 'Berry Merry Christmas' stamp with Distress Ink (Festive Berries and Picked Raspberry on the berries) and a Distress Marker (Vintage Photo on the branches). I sprayed water on top before stamping.

Gewerkt op de gladde kant van het aquarelpapier van Ranger.

I stamped on watercolor paper by Ranger, used the smooth surface.

Hier gewerkt met Twisted Citron (Distress Inkt) en Festive Berries (Distress Marker).

On this card I used Twisted Citron (Distress Ink) and Festive Berries (Distress Marker).

Ik hou van deze kleurencombinaties, zelfs voor kerstkaarten :)

I'm fond of these color combinations, even on Christmas cards :)

De tekst op de achtergrond deed ik met een stencil en glass bead gel.

I created the text with a stencil and glass bead gel.

De gel met kleine glaskraaltjes droogt mooi transparant op.

Love the transparent look of the glass bead gel.

De houten diertjes zijn van Artemio.

These cute wooden decorations are by Artemio.

Voor de onderkant stukjes papier geverfd met PaperArtsy Fresco Finish Chalk Acrylics. Stippen gemaakt met een embossingmal en deze daarna opgeschuurd.

The paper at the bottom was painted with PaperArtsy Fresco Finish Chalk Acrylics. I embossed the paper using an embossing folder. The white dots appeared after sanding the paper.

Hier gewone structuurpasta gebruikt. 

On this card I used regular modeling paste.

Ik heb die kerstboomstempel al een paar jaar, maar het blijft een favoriet.

This Christmas tree stamp isn't new but still one of my favorites.

Twee 'reverse' prints gemaakt met twee verschillende stencils en Distress Inkt.

For the background I did a reverse print with two different stencils using Distress Ink.

Het recept voor dit kaartje is simpel: een slordige verfachtergrond gecombineerd met wat spons- en stempelwerk. Knopen, touw en lint maken het af.

I applied green and red paint to the background of this quick and easy card. I did some sponging and stamping on top and added buttons, ribbon and cord.

Ik zag op de blog van stampingmathilda sterretjes gemaakt van appelsienschillen. Dat wilde ik ook proberen :)

Ze drogen mooi in dus konden ze op een kaart geplakt worden.

On stampingmathilda's blog I saw stars made from orange peels. I had to try this :)

When dry I glued some on this Christmas card.

Dit lint scoorde ik dit najaar in een hippe stoffenwinkel. De houten letters maakte ik wit met een Sharpie pen.

I scored the ribbon in a trendy fabric shop this fall. I coloured the letters with a white Sharpie.

De achtergrond gestempeld met Archival Inkt 'Carnation Red'.

I did the stamping of the background with Archival Ink 'Carnation Red'.

Vandaag start bij CAS on Sunday de 16de uitdaging. Deze keer is het thema 'Welcome Home'. 

Ik maakte onderstaande kaart als inspiratie voor deze uitdaging.

I made the card below as a sample for the current challenge. 

Voor dit kaartje dezelfde achtergrond gebruikt als bij deze vissenkaart. Hier de kleuren niet verzacht met een laagje tissue papier maar wel met een laagje vellum.

For this card I used the same background as for my fish card. Toned down the colors with vellum instead of tissue paper.

Een eenvoudig huisje uit wit papier geknipt.
