I have a lot of stamps, even favorite ones, that I forgot about for quite a while. 

I have the intention to dust off those stamps in 2023.

Ik heb een heleboel stempels, waaronder ook een aantal favorieten, die ik al een tijdje uit het oog verloren ben. Ik nam me voor om in 2023 deze stempels eens van onder het stof te halen.

For this set of cards I picked a box with 4 flower stamps by Hero Arts.

Voor de kaartjes van vandaag koos ik een doosje met 4 stempels van Hero Arts.

I almost never buy stamps mounted on wood anymore because I'm addicted to my stamping platform :)

But in my opinion the wooden stamps from back in the days still have a lot of charm.

Ik koop bijna nooit meer stempels op hout, vooral omdat ik 'verslaafd' ben aan mijn stempel platform :)

Maar de houten stempels van toen hebben nog steeds veel charme vind ik.

I inked up the stamps with various colors of Distress Ink. For a watercolor look I sprayed water on top of the ink before making the prints on watercolor paper. 

De stempels beïnkt met verschillende kleuren Distress Inkt. Om een aquarel effect te bekomen de inkt verneveld met water alvorens een afdruk te maken op aquarelpapier.

With my 16 prints I made 4 different color combinations.

Met mijn 16 prints maakte ik 4 verschillende kleuren combinaties.

I adhered the watercolor panels to the cards and finished the cards off by stamping a birthday wish.

De paneeltjes op de kaarten bevestigd en de kaarten afgewerkt met een verjaardagswens.

Today I've chosen a Geranium stamp and 2 definition stamps by Hero Arts.

Ik heb een heleboel stempels, waaronder ook een aantal favorieten, die ik al een tijdje uit het oog verloren ben. Ik nam me voor om in 2023 deze stempels eens van onder het stof te halen.

Vandaag koos ik voor een geranium stempel en 2 definitie stempels van Hero Arts.

I started by stamping the flower with gesso. Next I colored the tag with Distress Ink. The gesso works as a resist, I love the effect. 

The marks and the text were stamped with Distress Oxide Ink. 

Begonnen met het stempelen van de bloem met gesso. Daarna het label gekleurd met Distress Inkt. De gesso werkt als een resist, een heel tof effect vind ik. 

De 'marks' en de tekst gestempeld met Distress Oxide inkt. 

I bought the ribbon I used for the tag toppers at Flying Tiger.

Het lint dat ik gebruikte voor de tag toppers vond ik bij Flying Tiger.

Stamping with Stencils

 

I recently rediscovered the 'stamping with stencils technique' and I ended up with a bunch of colorful backgrounds for cards.

Ik herontdekte onlangs de 'stempelen met stencils techniek' en zo eindigde ik met een heleboel kleurige achtergronden voor kaarten.

I applied Distress Ink straight from the ink pad to various stencils. After spraying water on top I made prints on watercolor paper. 

It's a very easy technique with an unpredictable outcome but that's exactly why I love this technique :)

De techniek is simpel. Rechtstreeks met het inktkussen Distress Inkt aanbrengen op stencils, daar water over vernevelen en afdrukken maken op aquarelpapier.

De uitkomst is telkens een verrassing maar dat is net het leuke eraan :)

I used the backgrounds to make a set of kids cards.

Met de achtergronden maakte ik een reeks kaarten voor kinderen.

The branch, the numbers and wishes were stamped straight onto the backgrounds using Archival Ink 'Jet Black'. I stamped the birds and sheep on scraps of paper and adhered them to the cards using 3D tape.

De tak, de nummers en de wensen werden rechtstreeks op de achtergrond gestempeld met Archival Inkt 'Jet Black'. Ik stempelde de vogels en het schaap op restjes wit papier en plakte die na het uitknippen op de kaarten met 3D tape.

I embellished each card with a few pompons.

Elke kaart versierd met een aantal pompons.

The sheep was decorated with fluffy yarn.

Het schaap kreeg een laagje pluizige wol.

Pompon Sheep #2

 

  A few weeks ago I made a set of cards with pompon sheep after watching an Instagram reel by Amanda Evaston. While making those cards I was thinking a pompon sheep would look nice on a canvas too. So this week I dug up a few larger pompons and gave it a try.

Een aantal weken geleden maakte ik een set kaarten met schapen gemaakt van pompons, na het bekijken van een Instagram reel van Amanda Evanston. 

Terwijl ik daaraan bezig was bedacht ik dat zo'n schaap ook leuk zou staan op een canvas. Deze week zocht ik een aantal grotere pompons bij mekaar en ging aan de slag.

I started by painting the canvas using lime, turquoise and white paint. I added numbers, stripes and squares by sponging white, pink and dark blue paint through various stencils. To add more interest I overstamped the canvas randomly with a script stamp.

The legs of the sheep were painted straight onto the canvas. The head and ears were cut out of mixed media paper and colored black before adhering to the canvas with 3D tape.

Eerst het canvas geverfd met lime, turquoise en witte verf. Nummers, strepen en vierkantjes aangebracht door met respectievelijk witte, roze en donkerblauwe verf te sponzen doorheen verschillende stencils. Ook nog hier en daar gestempeld met een script stempel.

De poten van het schaap rechtstreeks op het canvas geschilderd. De kop en oren uit mixed media papier geknipt, zwart geverfd en met 3D tape op het canvas geplakt.

All 4 sides of the canvas were painted as well.

Ook de 4 zijden van het canvas werden geverfd.

I used 3 different sizes of pompons and filled up the gaps in between the pompons with scraps of pink thread.

Drie verschillende maten pompons opgeplakt en de ruimte tussen de pompons opgevuld met restjes roze garen.

I added shadow with a black Stabilo pencil.

Schaduw aangebracht met een zwart Stabilo potlood.

Sympathy Cards #8

It's a difficult time for a lot of people. Unfortunately I need a lot of sympathy cards these days.

Het is een moeilijke tijd voor veel mensen. Ik heb jammer genoeg vaak sterkte kaartjes nodig.

For the background I used a gel print. I did the lace pattern with an old Hero Arts stamp.

De achtergrond is een gel print. Voor het kant patroon gebruikte ik een oudere Hero Arts stempel.

Delightful Deer

I made three cards using these beautiful My Favorite Things deer.

Drie kaartjes gemaakt met deze mooie My Favorite Things herten.

I've die cut the deer out of white paper and glued them onto gel prints.

De herten uit wit papier gestanst en op gel prints geplakt.

On this gel print I added a pattern using a stencil and green paint.

Op deze gel print nog een motief aangebracht met een stencil en groene verf.

I adhered a torn strip of white paper to the bottom of this card.

Op dit kaartje onderaan een gescheurd stukje papier opgeplakt.

On each card I made splatters with white paint.

Op elke kaart spetters aangebracht met witte verf.

Here I added corrugated cardboard to the bottom of the card. I applied a layer of gesso to the cardboard.

Op deze kaart een stukje ribkarton opgeplakt. Het ribkarton kreeg een laagje gesso.

Newsprint Bird

On this card I used one of the gel prints I made during the birgitkoopsengelprintingchallenge on Instagram. 

Een kaartje gemaakt met 1 van de gel prints die ik maakte tijdens de birgitkoopsengelprintingchallenge op Instagram.

I did the print on tissue paper and glued the tissue paper on a card base using gel medium. The red circles were stamped on top of the print.

Ik maakte de print op tissue papier en plakte het tissue papier met gel medium op een kaart. De rode cirkels zijn achteraf gestempeld.

Wrapped Journal #6

I again made a Wrapped Journal. I've die cut the cover out of 300grs watercolor paper using the Sizzix 'Wrapped Journal' die by Eileen Hull. A quick and easy way to cut a cover without measuring. 

Opnieuw een Wrapped Journal gemaakt. De kaft gesneden uit 300grs aquarelpapier met behulp van de Sizzix 'Wrapped Journal' stans van Eileen Hull. Een snelle manier om een kaft te snijden zonder meten. 

I decorated the cover with a gel print. I applied paint on my large gel printing plate and made marks into the paint before printing. I made the marks with a lace stamp and a few background stamps.

Op de kaft kwam een gel print. Eerst verf uitgerold op mijn grote gel printing plate. Daar de kantstempel en ook nog een aantal achtergrondstempels in afgedrukt en een print gemaakt.

I did a ghost print on the reverse side of the cover. 

Een ghost print gemaakt op de binnenkant van de kaft.

I decorated the front cover with pompon ribbon. I machine stitched the ribbon to the cover. I added 2 tissue paper flowers as well. 

Aan de voorkant van het boekje stikte ik pompon lint. Verder ook nog 2 bloemen van tissue papier opgeplakt.

To create the flowers I colored white tissue paper with Dylusions Ink Spray. 

Voor de bloemen wit tissue papier gekleurd met Dylusions Ink Spray. 

Love how the gel print turned out.

Gel printen is altijd verrassend, wel blij met het resultaat.

I've woven orange and fuchsia elastic cord through the holes to attach the signatures.

Ik schoof dunne oranje en fuchsia elastiek door de gaten om de katernen aan te bevestigen.

For the inserts I've cut 20 pages out of mixed media paper, size 19,5 x 11 cm. I folded each page in half and nested 5 pages into each other to make 4 signatures.

Voor de katernen 20 pagina's gesneden uit mixed media papier. De pagina's in 2 gevouwen en per 5 in mekaar geschoven om zo 4 katernen te maken.

I repeated the lace theme on the inside by folding a paper doily around each signature.

Het kant thema van op de kaft nog eens herhaald binnenin het boekje. Ik vouwde een taartkantje rond elke katern.

Everything Circles #1

There's a new challenge on Instagram, it's called Everything Circles. Birgit Koopsen is hosting it and wants us to use circles in our art every day for a whole month. 

Deze maand startte op Instagram een nieuwe uitdaging: Everything Circles.

Birgit Koopsen organiseert en het is de bedoeling om 30 dagen lang 'iets' te maken met cirkels in de hoofdrol.

I won't play along every day. It's rather a coincidence  today's boys cards fit the challenge. The circles are just a subtle accent :)

Ik ben niet van plan om elke dag deel te nemen maar de jongenskaartjes van vandaag kunnen toevallig toch meedoen. Al kregen de cirkels eerder een bijrol :)

Here I stamped the photo stamp on paper that already had some color on it.

De fotostempel hier afgedrukt op papier waar al wat kleur op zat.

For the backgrounds I again used gel prints.

Voor de achtergronden gebruikte ik nog maar eens gel prints.

I do know a few skaters who I can send a card like this :)

Ik ken wel een aantal skaters waar ik zo'n kaartje naartoe kan sturen :)
