Japanese Stab Bindings

 

Each month there is a new bookbinding project in the Handmade Book Club. In June it was a collection of soft cover Japanese stab bindings. 

Elke maand verschijnt er een nieuw boekbindproject in de Handmade Book Club. In juni was het een collectie Japanse bindingen met zachte kaft.

On the book on the top I applied a simple 'Four-Hole Binding'. For the cover I worked with a thick handmade paper. The paper contains a lot of fibers and therefore has a lot of structure.

Bij het bovenste boek werkte ik met een eenvoudige 'Four-Hole Binding'. Voor de kaft gebruikte ik dik handgeschept papier waar de vezels heel zichtbaar zijn en ook structuur geven aan het papier.

On the second book I applied the 'Hemp Leaf Binding'. I sewed both books with red waxed thread.

Boekje 2 deed ik met de 'Hemp Leaf Binding'. Beide boekjes naaide ik met rode gewaxte draad.

On this book I used the 'Noble Binding'. I did the sewing with a thicker cotton thread. 

Hier de 'Noble Binding'. Voor dit boekje naaide ik met een iets dikkere katoenen draad. 

And last but nog least the 'Tortoise Shell Binding'.

Als laatste de 'Tortoise Shell Binding'. 

For extra protection I added decorative corners to each book. 

Voor extra bescherming werden alle hoeken afgewerkt met decoratief papier.
