From Gel Print to...#9

For this birthday card I glued a 'Classic Car' by Darkroom Door on one of my gel prints.

Deze keer een 'Classic Car' van Darkroom Door op één van mijn gel prints gekleefd en er een verjaardagskaart van gemaakt.

A combination of big dots and letters.

 Grote stippen gecombineerd met letters.

I created the dots using a homemade texture tube. I've cut circles out of craft foam and glued them to a tube that was in my stash (packaging material from Rituals fragrance sticks).

De stippen maakte ik met een zelfgemaakte tool. Een Rituals koker (verpakking van geurstokjes) beplakt met rondjes die ik uit foam knipte. 

Rolling with the texture tube over the paint on the plate creates a nice pattern.

Door met zo'n rol over de verf op de plate te rollen krijg je een leuk patroon.

Lots of layers on this print, it almost looks like leather. This print will be perfect to use for a book cover.

Deze print kreeg zoveel laagjes dat het bijna op leder lijkt. Stevig genoeg voor een boekenkaftje.

On this print I used a tube with elastic bands.

Hier elastiekjes gebruikt voor het patroon.

Another gel print in the picture. I combined this colorful background with some of the Altenew Simple Flower stamps.

Een gel print uit mijn voorraad gecombineerd met de Altenew Simple Flowers stempels.

I did the stamping of the flowers with Archival Ink Magenta Hue, Tea Rose and Pink Peony.

Say Yes #1

I've made this card for Darkroom Door with one of the new quote stamps. I love this 'Say Yes Quote Stamp',  in my opinion it is suitable on many occasions.

Dit kaartje maakte ik voor Darkroom Door met één van hun nieuwe tekststempels. Deze 'Say Yes Quote Stamp' vind ik wel een leuke, bruikbaar bij veel gelegenheden.

I started by stamping on white tissue paper with various Darkroom Door Background Stamps using green, blue and turquoise paint. I cut strips out of the tissue paper and created a collage with these strips using matte medium.

Begonnen met het stempelen op wit tissue papier. Ik gebruikte groene, blauwe en turquoise verf en heel veel verschillende achtergrondstempels. Ik sneed strookjes uit deze prints en maakte er een collage mee. De stroken opgeplakt met matte medium.

Next I brushed a wash of gesso on top of the dried collage. I stamped with the Grid and Postcards Background Stamp on tissue paper using black ink, adhered parts of those prints to the background. I added more color using Distress Ink Mermaid Lagoon and Twisted Citron.

Over de droge collage een dun laagje gesso geborsteld. Ik stempelde ook met de Grid en de Postcards achtergrondstempel op tissue papier, deze keer met zwarte inkt. Stukjes van deze prints willekeurig opgeplakt. Wat kleur toegevoegd met Distress Inkt Mermaid Lagoon en Twisted Citron.

I created 2 similar backgrounds and used one for a birthday card.

Twee dezelfde achtergrondjes gemaakt en ééntje gebruikt voor een verjaardagskaart.

Before stamping the quote/wish in the front I added some white stamping using the Checkered Background Stamp and a circle stamp from the Grunge Marks set.

Voor het stempelen van de wens/quote nog wat wit stempelwerk toegevoegd met de Checkered achtergrondstempel en met een stempeltje uit de Grunge Marks set.

Whit lots of gel prints ready on my worktable it's super easy to make cards these days :)

En kant en klare gel print van de stapel genomen. Op die manier gaat kaartjes maken snel tegenwoordig :)

To stamp the birds I used a whimsical bird stamp that came with the latest Craft Stamper.

I colored the wings using Distress Ink.

De stempel van het vogeltje zat gratis bij de laatste Craft Stamper.

Hun vleugels ingekleurd met Distress Inkt.

I made these prints for the 'foam stamps' topic of the gel printing challenge.

Ik maakte deze prints voor de uitdaging 'foam stempels'.

Birgit made a video tutorial on how to make your own flexible texture plates. I made 2 of those 'stamps', see orange and pink texture plates on the photo.

For the texture tube on the left I've cut squares out of self adhesive craft foam and attached those to a paper tube. On the wood block I glued felt pads/floor protectors from the hardware store. 

Birgit maakte een instructiefilmpje over hoe je zelf makkelijk buigbare 'texture plates' kan maken om te gebruiken op de gelli plate.

Ik maakte 2 van deze 'stempels', zie de oranje en roze foam platen op de foto. Ik knipte ook vierkantjes uit zelfklevend knutselfoam en plakte deze op een stevige kartonnen rol. Op het houtblokje kleefde ik vilten rondjes die bedoeld zijn om onder meubels te kleven als vloerbescherming. 

I stamped on the prints using the wood block, love the effect.

Achteraf op de prints gestempeld met het houtblokje met vilten rondjes.

Elke tool van de foto gebruikt op elke print :)

I used all of my foam tools on each print :)

On March 29 the theme of the gel printing challenge was 'egg carton'. Birgit showed us how to make beautiful patterns in the paint using an egg carton. 

I thought it would be nice to make a book for that challenge using a small egg carton. A great opportunity to use up some of my gel prints as well.

Op 29 maart was het thema van de gel printing challenge 'eierkarton'. Natuurlijk was het de bedoeling om met de verpakking van eieren textuur aan te brengen in de verf maar ik had nog zo'n klein eierdoosje liggen en bedacht dat het wel leuk zou zijn om er een boekje van te maken gevuld met gel prints.

I glued a gel print on the cover, did some stamping on top.

Op de cover al een eerste print gekleefd waar ik op stempelde.

I folded a bunch of signatures out of the gel prints I've made during the challenge.

Verder een collectie mooie printjes van afgelopen maand bij mekaar gezocht en daar pagina's van gevouwen.

I painted both the inside and outside of the egg carton. 

The book measures approx 9 by 12 cm.

Buitenkant en binnenkant van het eierdoosje geverfd. 

Het doosje meet ongeveer 9 bij 12 cm.

I've cut away the upper ends of the dividers on the inside...

De uitsteeksels aan de binnenkant weggesneden...

...so the pages could lay flat.

...zodat de pagina's mooi vlak kunnen liggen.

I glued those cut offs upside down into the holes. 

Die topjes omgekeerd in de ontstane gaten geplakt.

I've set eyelets into the front and back cover to attach the binding thread and the closure.

Eyelets aangebracht om er de draad voor de binding en de sluiting aan te bevestigen.

I did the binding using a coptic stitch.

Kaften en katernen aan mekaar genaaid met een koptische binding.

Love the colorful spine.

De gel prints zorgen voor een kleurrijke rug.

After doing the binding I closed each signature using double sided tape. This way I hided the unfinished back of the gel prints.

Om de onafgewerkte achterkanten van de prints te verbergen kleefde ik elke katern dicht na het naaien. 

 I clipped the corners of the inside pages so they would fit the covers.

Het eierdoosje heeft afgeronde hoeken dus ook bij alle pagina's de hoeken afgerond.
