JoFY #3

Every weekend (first on Fridays, now on Sundays) for 16 weeks (until Christmas) Jo Firth-Young (designer of the JoFY stamps) is doing a free Facebook Live on her JoFY Jamboree!! Facebook page. She's making Christmas cards with one of her older JoFY stamp sets each week. 

I own a lot of her stamps and she has a style that speaks to me so...after watching one of her videos I ended up with 5 more Christmas cards.

Ik was eigenlijk nog niet van plan om al aan mijn kerstkaarten te beginnen maar Jo Firth-Young (ontwerper van de JoFY stempels) heeft daar verandering in gebracht.

Ik heb veel van haar stempels, haar stijl spreekt me heel erg aan dus ja...na het bekijken van één van haar videos maakte ik opnieuw 5 kaarten.

For the first set of cards I started with one panel, size 15 x 30 cm. I divided the panel into 3 cards after sponging and stamping the background.

The colored baubles and the label tape at the bottom were added after cutting the panel apart.

Voor de eerste 3 kaarten van vandaag starte ik met één paneel van 15 op 30 cm. Dit paneel in 3 gesneden na het sponzen en stempelen van de achtergrond. 

De gekleurde kerstballen en de label tape onderaan werden later toegevoegd.

Party Balloons #2

 

I used one of the heart-shaped balloons from the new 'Party Balloons' stamp set by Darkroom door to make a card for a 7 year old girl. 

To create the background I sponged Distress Oxide Ink 'Kitsch Flamingo' through the Small Stencil - Checkered. Both stencil and pink ink are favorites over here :)

Met één van de hartvormige ballonnen uit de nieuwe 'Party Balloons' stempelset van Darkroom Door maakte ik een kaartje voor een meisje van 7.

Voor de achtergrond sponsde ik Distress Inkt 'Kitsch Flamingo' doorheen de Small Stencil - Checkered. Zowel de stencil als de roze kleur inkt zijn favoriet hier :)

I stamped the balloon, the name and the wish with Versamark ink and heat embossed the stamped prints with metallic gold embossing powder.

The balloon was colored using watercolor paint.

De ballon, de naam en de wens gestempeld met Versamark inkt. Gouden embossingpoeder gestrooid over de natte inkt en verhit.

De ballon kleurde ik in met aquarelverf.

I'm not often using kraft card stock but Jo made me change my habits :)

Ik werk niet zo vaak op een kraft achtergrond, maar gewoontes zijn er om van af te wijken :)

On her sample Jo used Distress Oxide Ink. On this card I used paper instead. I looked for nice scraps of paper and applied the paper piecing technique. Jo's stamps are perfect for this technique.

Voor haar voorbeeld gebruikte Jo Distress Oxide Inkt maar ik maakte ook een versie met papier. Mooie restjes papier uitgezocht en de 'paper piecing' techniek toegepast. De stempels van Jo lenen zich daar uitstekend toe.

Today I'm sharing 2 more projects I did using the new 'Row of Pencils Border Stamp' by Darkroom Door.

Vandaag toon ik de laatste 2 projecten die ik maakte met de nieuwe 'Row of Pencils Border Stamp' van Darkroom Door.

I started by applying pink, blue and green paint on my gel printing plate. I made a couple of impressions into the paint with the stamp and pulled a few prints. 

When looking at the prints I started to see all kinds of things...:)

Begonnen met het aanbrengen van roze, blauwe en groene verf op mijn gel printing plate. De stempel een paar keer afgedrukt in de verf en prints gemaakt. 

Toen de prints klaar waren begon ik er van alles in te zien...:)

In my opinion the pencils look like a skyline on this print. I cut a strip out of the gel print and glued it into my Pocket Journal. I added shadow to the pencils, I mean rooftops... to make them pop more on the page. For the moon I added a simple white circle.

Afgedrukt in 1 kleur lijken de potloden op een skyline vind ik. Een strook geknipt uit de gel print en in mijn  Pocket Journal geplakt. Wat schaduw aangebracht rond de potloden/daken om ze er wat meer te laten uitspringen. Een simpele witte cirkel doet dienst als maan.

The text was done using my computer.

De tekst met de computer gemaakt en afgeprint.

Not a lot of empty pages left in my Pocket Journal.

Mijn Pocket Journal raakt al aardig gevuld.

On this gel print I see a fence instead of a row of pencils. Behind the fence you see the beach, the waves, the sea and the sun. Sunset is not far away :)

Bij deze gel print doen de potloden mij denken aan een hekje. Met een beetje verbeelding zie je achter het hekje  het strand, de golven, de zee en de zon die zo dadelijk zal ondergaan :)

I made a page in my Dina Wakley Journal using the new 'Row of Pencils Border Stamp' by Darkroom Door. Because of its size (30 cm x 6 cm) it's a perfect stamp to use in larger art journals.

Ik maakte ook een pagina in mijn Dina Wakley Journal met de nieuwe 'Row of Pencils Border Stamp' van Darkroom Door. Door zijn formaat (30 cm x 6 cm) is het een ideale stempel om in een groter art journal te gebruiken.

I started by making a gel print in rainbow colors on an A4 sheet of paper. After drying I glued the gel print into the journal.

Een gel print gemaakt in regenboogkleuren op een A4 blad en deze in het boek geplakt.

For the quote I used 2 different alphabet stamp sets.

Twee verschillende alfabet stempelsets gebruikt voor de quote.

I stamped the pencils on a strip of white paper using StazOn 'Dove Gray'. This light gray color allowed me to easily color the print with pencils. 

De potloden gestempeld op een strook wit papier met StazOn 'Dove Gray'. Door voor licht grijs te kiezen kon ik de afdruk na het stempelen nog heel goed inkleuren met kleurpotloden.

After cutting out I attached the pencils to the journal with 3D tape.

Na het uitknippen de strook met 3D tape bevestigd.
